Here is what Leon said about Taylor: Leon's Response: I'll say here what everybody else has been saying behind Jermain Taylor's and Lou DiBella's back.Jermain Taylor is done. He's made a ton of money, and he's been knocked out twice in his last four fights. Who really cares about seeing him fight a stooge to get knocked out again the next time he faces somebody with a pulse, capable of taking advantage of his De La Hoyaesque ability to finish, or not finish fights? Something tells me we'll see Jermain face a very weak contender before losing to Froch or somebody else again. Well he is an advisor, is he right?
To me . . . it looks that way . . . unless he suddenly learn to improve his fighting heart. The problem is . . . he fails to shift to high gears everytime it is needed . . . in turn he fades away in the later part of his fights.
I don't think he's going to, but it wouldn't surprise me too much if Taylor really did just retire after this. He's made a lot of money, held a world title, and he admits to not liking the sport very much. Not a bad idea to just retire, enjoy your money, and save whatever brains you got left.
no he has the ability to fight close with elite fighters if he can stay up for the full 12 he might have a chance. he gave a good account of himself . he can bounce back
was it just me or during the pre fight interviews he seemed to be sluring his words. i know he's country but i never remember him sounding that country before.
Although I like JT, I believe that he should move on, boxing is not all there is to life. He has a family, he needs to make sure that he is healthy for them.
Greg Leon is a try hard flog. Remember where you heard it first. He's like the Vanilla Ice of boxing reportage. There was a thread on this board last week saying Burt Sugar was a bitter old know nothing compared to Dan Rafael. Greg isn't fit to carry their pencil cases.
I agree...he's only done if he's tired of the boxing game....great fighter.... mad skills...and a classy dude....
if he works on his stamina or paces himself i see him being able to cope with the best. i think he would beat froch in a rematch.
Taylor was never that good to begin with. Without HBO, he never would have "won" the titles he did. He's an ordinary fighter who is now destined to be a gatekeeper if he continues.
