McClelan vs Charley Burley, Lloyd Marshall, Holman Williams, Herbert "Cocoa Kid" Lewis Hardwick, Jack Chase, Eddie Booker, Aaron Wade, Bert Lytell. How would he do against this bunch of fighters?
The only one I`ve heard of is Charley Burley and from what I`ve read he was meant to of been as good as Ray Robinson at middle! There even those that say Ray ducked Burley who was never given a title match up, anyone with that rep would have been far too skilled for G-man who was really limited and easy to hit, plus I`ve seen a film study on Burley and G-man showed none of these amazing skills in his fights or sparring matches, but G-man had a puncher`s chance with anyone.
I’ve so little of the Black Murderers Row in film that I won’t make a H2H prediction. In that era though, I think McClellan would be fighting at LHW. I highly doubt he could make 160 with same day weigh ins. He was giant for 160.
Holman Williams could totally out box him Burly too although he has a lot of size on them and was an enormous puncher however didn't really feel Gerald was the finished article. Marshall I'd be confident in picking to stop McClellan he has the size, power and skill to get it done. G Man could beat Wade, Chase, Lytell and Kid although all were real durable and if the survive the initial barrage it would be all them especially over 15. I would favor Booker who was meant to be pure class. Tricky to pick as the black murders row have little to some even having no footage.
