Mckracken is underrated. If he wore a baseball cap and called carl "champ" and "baby" he'd be trainer of the year.
If The Kracken started to call Carl ''Champ and Baby'' I'd think he was starting to lose the plot, It dosn't have the same affect if you're from Birmingham.
I always find it hard to predict a guy who has mixed with good company and never been all that hurt by a punch to lose by TKO but an open defense against a guy who can hit that fast and that hard...
The plan is irrelevant. The sensible plan is to box off the back foot, use a jab to offset G-Man and make him tire by being evasive and countering him with quick single shots when he launches an attack. But Froch does not have the footwork, speed, jab or ability to implement this plan. It is like me drawing up my ideal plan to beat a prime Tyson. I know what to do, the problem is I don't have the tools to do it, so I get ****ing raped.
This hasn't got anything to do with the point I was making and with one top class fighter to his name and no genuine world champions I'd say he's rated just fine. Remember how they had a gameplan for Ward? Froch wasn't good enough to carry it out.
i think people are way way way overating mcclelan here,he was a career middle, moved up to fight benn, who IMO was past his best and got beat in a hard fight. I remember him ko ing jackson but couldnt remember him fighting any of the big names at the time so i boxreced him,not many big names on his record really, may mugarbi and Williams, and he was champ for a few years before he fought benn so where are the rest ? Not saying froch would beat him,but froch likes a war and has been hit of some big hitters and still comes till the last bell and im not to sure that the gman liked pressure or did like a war.
Your picking a modern day fighter against someone who fought a few years ago, to be "in the fight". Wow steady.
Pretty poor matchup for Frochy though really. It might be a little macabre to suggest he might outlast the McLellan of the Benn fight, but it's probably true. That would be true of many, many fighters around 168 or so lbs though IMO. Assuming he isn't injured, he hits arguably harder (I've only seen him spark faded and smaller guys and he couldn't finish Benn) and is a bit quicker, and more refined than Froch, but not by much, his second gear gets well overrated IMO, no technical diversity in his best wins. Anyway, as I say, I consider Froch the greater fighter at this point. To suggest he might not beat a monster like McLellan is hardly old school bias IMO.
