    Ggood fighter, and fun to watch in the ring. Vicious power, solid chin, murderous body puncher, decent boxing skills. He had become increasingly power-happy and sloppy in the ring however, after leaving Steward. Being too much in love with his power and declining technically is why I don't think he would've been so great like others say he would have been ("what could have beens" always get overrated). The greats, especially below HW, who were special punchers also had so much more than power and usually better skills than G-Man had.

    McClellan's personal life always turns into a heated topic because of the dog fighting. I try not to focus too much on that. I don't like what he apparently did, but I still find it sad when I see what happened to him.

    :roll::roll:

    That's boxing message boards for you.

    Can't discuss a guy objectively and talk about strengths and weaknesses without being called a "hater".

    I agree that G-man did become a little sloppy towards the end of his career, but you can say the same thing for Roy Jones. I feel that the fights between Julian Jackson and Gerald McClellan ended both fighters' careers. They should have been, and would have been, no less.

    Very good analysis, he could definitely be a good boxer but as you say he totally fell in love with his power, it is believed that he genuinely expected to be done with Benn in one round and probably would have been if there was any composure to his punching.

    Agree with you about McClellan's personal life as well, don't like what he did but there are plenty of fighters who have done worse things but get nowhere near the amount of criticism Gerald does.

    Thread Stealer is as good and objective poster you will meet.

    G-Man was a **** in his personal life, though no one deserves what he is going through now. I'm not a believer in Karma but his story is certainly a good argument for its existence.

    Drew Marshall or whatever your name is you sound like a ****** :good

    IF Allen Green had run into an accident after KOing Ravelo he would be remembered like McClellan.

    If Valero never fights again.. he will in 15 years be remembered like McClellan.

    If Lacy's plane fell down on the way to England for the fight with Calzaghe he would be remembered as possibly the greatest talent ever. A undefeatable enigma.

    Now look... reality is that after it became obvious that Gerald couldn't really box that well (after getting outpointed and defeated by two unknowns) they started putting him in with has-beens and no-hopers that he could KO. He basically met two people of any value his entire career. One was naturally smaller and past it - the other knocked him out.

    Jackson and Valdez arguably higher as they actually knocked out live bodies.

    Before the Calzaghe fight the vast majority agreed that Lacy was P4P the hardest puncher in boxing. Not only in one division - in boxing. Can you see the value of such a belief now?
