Campillo surprised me how good he was. He looks kinda basic on first glance but then you see the subtlties. How he rolls with punches, good defence, he actually moves a lot quicker than it appears. Accurate as hell and maintains a good work-rate. One of those deceptive fighters.

1117-111 scored against him ... just effin terrible

and the fact that this was a nationally televised fight on basic cable (oppose to premium i.e. HBO, Showtime) disgusted.

**crap like this is why the mainstream media doesn't take boxing seriously. Campillo puts on an absolute clinic .... and only gets credit for 3 rounds one one scorecard

Exactly. Campillo had BS staggering all over the ring on several occassions.

I'd have given Shumenov 4 rounds tops, and that's being generous. Campillo completely dismantled him.

It's a horrible night on many levels because of this. Campillo showed he belongs with the cream of the crop at 175, and now the much more beatable Shumenov's going to land those fights because nobody in their right mind is going to fight Campillo with no title.

I like that specific style. Short, quick, compact punches and good at picking off punches. Nate Campbell and Guillermo Jones fight like that. Wide, slow handed fighters are easy money for these guys cause they see everything coming and they see the holes too.

That was awful. Shumenov showed a ton of heart but by no means came close to actually winning that fight.

there's been bad and or close decisions before in boxing .. but I feel this fight should get much more attention

in some close fights, you could at least make a case for the other fighter winning, but what particularly boggles me is how Campillo could get such a wide score against him, when he was putting good punches together, not to mention slipping and blocking shots on D

He isn't short and doesn't fight short even though he comes forwar. He's 6'2. Shumenov was the one that looked to be fighting shorter even though they were listed as the same height.

I though the scores on Malignaggi-Diaz I and Vanes-Ouma were off. This, however, was on a completely different level. The term "robbery" gets thrown out so much that sometimes people can get desensitized to it, but this fight was an out and out robbery. Absolutely disgusting. This doesn't help Shumenov at all either because any fans he's made with his heart are going to be outnumbered by the people writing him off because he got the ****ing gift of the year. If someone told me Shumenov won 5 rounds I still would've thought they were far too generous, let alone enough to win.

I think you missed the point he was talking about short, quick, compact punches.

As I said in the other thread about this fight: And people wonder why alot of foreign talent is reluctant to fight here.

I only watched the 7th and 8th and figured Gabriel was going to win an easy decision. I turned it off because it was kinda slow and tedious.

Unbelievable. Who's Shumenov's promoter? He must have some kind of pull with the judges.

Maybe, but he didn't remind me of either of them regardless. Guillermo is reknowned for body punching, this guy wasn't about that. Nate has more of an old school inside fighting style.
