There was several moments in the fight where Drakulich was in his right to stop the fight. Shame on me for hoping he didnt because I needed the Campillo UD for Kirk's predictions.
Im pretty sure Shumenov is his own promoter. Thats why he got relatively big name fighters to come to kazakhstan and face him.
You're correct here- tonight was, I believe, the first time Golden Boy co-promoted with them. It's pretty damning that Campillo got a fair shake when KZ (Shumenov) promoted the first fight in Kazakhstan, only to get reamed in Nevada once Golden Boy gets in on the action.
#1. yeah I for one am pretty outraged/stunned .. I mean calling a 114-113 fight a robbery is one thing but I think this fight set the new standard for the real definition of what a robbery is .. even the announcers gave up on Shumenov, and already mentioned but at times the ref looked like he was going to stop the fight. #2. it did really ruin, what was a good fight night. I gotta give Top Rank credit for putting a solid card together (and on basic cable none the less) but having the last fight end the way it did really does disappoint me to say the least and on another note regarding robberies, Glen Johnson, Collazo and all the others should shut the hell up because Campillo put forth a much more complete effort in this fight, didn't take his foot off the gas too too much ... and still had 117-111 scored against him **not a terribly big deal but did anyone else notice how Shumenov didn't even bother to raise his gloves in celebration right after the bell?
I was pretty sure that Campillo won the fight. It's gotta be tough winning a decision like that and getting robbed in such fashion. Seriously, it's their livelihood, so wrong.
Shumenov got his ass whooped. Shady Nady should talk to ESPN and make things clear about waht he saw and what's what so he doesn't go to sleep with a guilty conscience.
I assumed that if the fight wasn't, that it would've been reflected in the admittedly few post-fight reports that came out. That Campillo even got the decision in Kazakhstan is enough to show me that fight was at least mostly on the level even if he really won a wider decision.
1st month of the year hasnt even passed, and already this fight seems like a lock to win robbery of the year
It's entirely possible that Shumenov wasn't in on the screw job. He wasn't fighting like a guy who knew he had the decision in the bag.
Shumenov got the gift because he is more aggressive and punches harder. Campillo got ****ed for not having as exciting of a style.
no. Don't make it look like it was not corruption when it clearly was. During the majority of rounds Campillo was pushing Shumenov back more than vice-versa anyways.
I really feel like throwing up. What a shame. Boxing has become the epitome of disgrace. Decisions like these make me feel happy that MMA is taking over and boxing is being shoved aside as the joke event of the sports world.
If he's that good at it, he's in the wrong profession since he's already got the look and style of a martial-arts film actor. Jackie Chan can't keep making movies forever
