I was keeping track of the score, but J'Leon won a few rounds by just outworking Rosado. Nothing really hurt Rosado, but Love was connecting more. Rosado seemed gun shy. I know Love was elusive, but I would have just started throwing more punches once I realized I could hurt him. More pressure. He wasn't pressuring enough most of the fight.
A 'prospect' for me is someone, who, while perhaps not ready yet (physically or in skills and experience), looks to have the potential to become a champion. J'Leon, in my opinion, does not. Rosado is a tough, gritty fighter, who might grow into MW but is still really a not particularly hard hitting LMW, but still put Love down, and rocked him a few times. In fact I would say that Rosado controlled the fight to a large degree, offset only by J'Leons speed and slickness. I youtube'd a coupla of Loves earlier fights and seen nothing particular to impress. I would want a prospect to at least score a clearcut victory at this level. While I don't see it as out and out robbery, I think Rosado was unlucky (or stiffed more to the point) not to get the win. Do you consider J'Leon love to be a prospect ? I've not paid him a lot of attention and possibly I'm missing something, or he was having an off night vs Rosado.
I would liek to see Gabe go back to 154. he is huge at 154 and earned a title shot in that weight class. But fighters like him need to money and he saw 2 of his biggest oaydays at 160. I think he should go back to 154, get a solid fight and bark as much as possible at getting the Ishe-Molina winner, which he was the mandatory too.
ok well can you say Love is still a green fighter? I thought Love was making a big and maybe too much of a step up in his fight right before this one vs Findley and then right away he fights Rosado
Rosado needs to move back down to 154. Gabriel would be a threat to anyone in the division with his solid chin, heart and work rate.
There were two rounds in that fight that were close. In each, Rosado followed Love around while Love threw arm punches and arm comobos. Rosado threw very little in those rounds, but definitely landed the harder blows. I gave those to Rosado for a 6-4 win. But, I can see another guy saying Love won the majority of each round and swinging the score 6-4 for Love. Simply put, far too close of a fight to be a robbery even if I didn't agree with the decision. And I want an immediate rematch.
GGG gives out the coolest nicknames. I bet in high school he was the guy who gave everyone nicknames that stuck through college.
I'm OK with that. Actually what's oddest is that it's actually not so easy to find video of Love's recent fights. TBH (apart form the Rosado fight) I've made a judgement based on early fights and more recent journos reports who say he doesn't seem to be developing his game - not much change between early and later fights. Anyone with the balls to step in the ring deserves a second look-over IMO, but Love's yet to impress.
