pointless? you cannot figure it out even if i point it out straight to you.

no one here is a valero hater. we just can't stand nuthuggers who insist that valero will brutally knock out any fighter from 140 and below.

and I was just echoing psychopaths view on the matter.

I might. This weekend will go as long way to seeing where he is at at lightweight. I have a feeling he is going to be tested by the aging vet Pitulua who got a very good surprise win by walking through Santa Cruz. We'll see.

But as I have proven in the past, I am always willing to own up when I am wrong.

Having watched Valero up close in the gym and after talking to many boxing insiders about him who have witnessed his gym wars over the years, its clear he has tons of potential. But its also clear there has been a regression while he has traveled around the world and has been basically training himself all this time.

The camera guy for Max, Brian, was with me when we filmed his last open workout and has covered him fro several years with Doug Fischer. To brian, valero is not as smooth technically anymore, particularly with his feet. he looked solid in teh ring, glding around but to brian, Valero used to look like a triangle moving about the ring. his legs never tangled as they do at times when he fights now.

I think like James Kirkland, who i am very high on and have been since I caught him as the first bout on what should have been the Castillo/Chico 3 undercard, they will at the very least be fun while they last.

Surely he is going to be tested by the aging Pitalua. The guy has experience and power too . . . but his 3 loses all came from southpaws which clearly indicates that Pitalua is naturally handicapped against lefties, therefore even if Valero beats the guy it is not gonna be much point of refference on how he stands at 135. Fighting Paulus Moses or Anthony Peterson should be a better one.

No matter what you see in the gym . . . it is always different in the actual fight. Valero is very mechanical . . . always throwing long wide punches going in . . . the opponents he had before are very limited fighters. Fighters who came into the ring just to survive not to win . . . they spend much of their time covering up and moving away than punching or counter punching . . . now if Valero's gonna encounter an opponent like JMM . . . this kid can be stopped dead on his track.

But you can say that about any fighter facing JMM. It gets rough at the top. I'm not sure if Valero can win like he has at the top but look at it like this: Skills get watered down at the top. Its why fights like Hearns/Leonard or Castillo/Corrales I are great. Before they faced eachother, those elites were blowing through the ranks. Then they meet and get extended. tested. Everyone meets someone who relegates them to mortal status. Its how each guy reacts in that moment that separates them.

Valero has a lot of intangibles that will negate his deficiencies. I seeya on the wide shots in the ring vs. the straight ones in the gym. Hopefully, (Doubtfully) Alcazar can help him out. I''m not crazy about that decision at all.

Mosquera was a titleholder who was there to win. And Valero got off the floor to get the win by late KO no less. So he has heart if not a chin and certainly the ability to stop you early or late. He won't be an easy out for anyone. I wonder if the move up will make his chin better?
