On the undercard of DAZN's show in Philly, co-headlining by Tevin Farmer vs. Jono Carroll & Katie Taylor vs. Rose Volantes the Friday before St. Patrick's Day. 10 rounds @ middleweight. King Gabe, ranked #14 by the WBC @ 160lbs, has gone 3-5-1 in the division since moving up six years ago to challenge then champ Golovkin after having spent virtually his entire career at junior middle (where he returned & fought once more in this recent stretch, a wide unanimous decision loss to Jermell Charlo). Sulęcki - ranked WBO #4, and WBA #10 (but for some reason not ranked at middleweight by the WBC, but junior middle, where they place him fourth) is the younger man by four years, taller by 1½″, and has fought nearly half of his pro contests above the super middleweight limit.
Apologies to @Chuck Norris - but that is so mother****ing infuriating when that happens. I spent twenty minutes on my phone (while standing in a crowded financial district lobby waiting for a rainstorm to subside) - with its minuscule touchscreen keyboard designed for 11 year old Japanese girls and not my girthy sausage fingers - meticulously researching this and putting in the modicum of effort to write up a couple of at least perfunctorily informative paragraphs...and then unbeknownst to me just a couple of minutes before I click "submit" you open up a create thread window, type one bare sentence declaring the fight has been announced, then post it...and with your twenty seconds' worth of work ruin my afternoon in one keystroke.
Gabe performed brilliantly against Tapia, Arias and Murray, deserved the W in the latter 2. But Sulecki is on another level technically, he should outbox him to a close but clear UD, that being said, this is on a DAZN card, so you never know, they may screw Maciej to repay Gabe for screwing him against Arias.
He should, but Gabe has honed his craft and improved a lot, enough to have a few Culcay like rounds. You and I will probably score it a shutout, but in the eyes of many, including maybe an official judge or two, they'll like Gabe's aggression and have it far closer than it should be.
Apparently he (Maciej, that is) has been wanting this fight for a long time, for whatever reason. Gabe maybe trash-talked him on social media or in person (ringside at some event or in a gym)?
I'm hoping for Rosado to pull it off but if he doesn't at least he goes out on his shield. The man is never in a boring fight.
Head says Sulecki UD, anything from 7-5 to 9-3, but my hearts always in Gabe's corner and I hope he knocks Sulecki through the canvas.
Rosado all day, every day. Even in a Golovkin rematch. I am just a fanboy, so I can't pick against him. But this will be a good fight since Rosado's game has changed quite a bit over the years. He looked really good vs Arias. I don't see Rosado being the aggressor in this fight. He will focus his game on Maciej's right hand. Culcay employed a similar shoulder roll defense as Rosado, and it gave Maciej hell. What Maciej has to do is focus on that body. It's Rosado's kryptonite(no, he has not been cut in 3 years now). Focus on the body and then keep Rosado on the outside with his sharp jab and the right hand. IMO the two stiles compliment each other and it will be a good fight. Rosado KO 1
