Sung-kil Moon is definitely the closest in terms of Cuevas style and power.

His whole offense consisted of clubbing hooks.

I am pretty sure that is who Russell is thinking of, as I sent Sal a bunch of Moon fights about a year ago. Russell, if you can name the country of origin of the fighter you are thinking of that would help.

Gotta be Gushiken. I think he was a southpaw, and he was indeed ridiculously powerful.

I wasn't sure where he came from.

    Was Moon that powerful?

Any stories/incidents of his come to mind, Bull?

Moon was a frighteningly powerful puncher, but you`d never know it at first glance. He was a wild swinging brawler who was susceptible to cuts and with not much in the way of technique although he did throw more compact and less telegraphed punches early in his career. The thing with Moon was that I`ve seen this guy discombobulate his opponents senses with merely a grazing punch like he did to Ernesto Ford I believe it was who crumpled in a heap.

And the scary part is that Moon was for the most part strictly an arm puncher! As for any stories or incidents that come to mind concerning him, I can`t think of any except for one. I remember in his final bout in which he lost his titles to Jose Luis Bueno that when the ten second bell had rung in the final round, Moon dropped his arms thinking the fight was over as did Bueno.

Moon was about to hug Jose Luis and congratulate him but before he could do so the referee told them the fight was still on but it seemed only the Mexican understood what he was saying as Moon still had his arms extended towards Bueno who at that point popped him right on the kisser with a right hand. The look on Moon`s face was priceless and Bueno kept trying to hit him and did nail him with a few more punches while Moon kept backing into the ropes with his arms still extended as Bueno kept trying to nail him! It was quite comical and I`ve never seen anything like it before or since.
