By shedding serious pounds to make weight and then gaining it back for the fight?

Gatti supposedly did this and could easily outweigh the person he was fighting by 15 or more pounds. Think he was brought to court for this after he put some guy in a coma.

    McClellan, of course.

Eh? Who did this and how many pounds did they put on?

The guy who filed a case against Gatti was Joey Gamache, after he nearly got brain damage and could never fight again after Gatti knocked him out.

Jake LaMotta weighed 190-200 lbs between fights. He somtimes lost about 10 lbs in the 24 hours leading up to the weigh in.

Having a same day weigh in did not prevent fighters from going to ridiculous lengths to make weight.

The best i saw pre rule change was Jeff Fenech. He simply train like a machine then go ballistic on food. He was a big and stupid strong man in the ring comparative to most opponents.

I'd have to go right thru his book again to get it, but it was plenty.

Apparently Don Curry had a programme scientifically worked out for him when he was at 147. It apparently gave him a huge advantage but it also took years off his career.

im kinda surprised that nunn only gained 6 pounds since the wieght in on some nights...for a guy that tall making middlewieght is unbelievable yet actaully only fighting at 166 or 168 wieght gain is outstanding.

im 165 pounds 5'8 he puts me too shame...yet im not a two wieght world titlist

Chris Eubanks' book talks about the horrors he had making weight, especially later in his career.

My feeling on Gatti is that he used Lasix. I've heard it said how terrible he looked at weigh-ins with his his skin cracked, etc.. That could help explain why he cut so easily.

    Lasix?

Is that come kind of laxative? Sounds like it.

Gatti's high, high cheekbones were the reason he cut so easily. Or so I thought.
