Id agree with this mate , guys like rickys camps for a fight are 10-12 weeks so 3 fights a year gives you 36 weeks in training leaving you basically 16 weeks a year to have a life outside boxing and recharge at world level guys tend to only fight 2-3 times max per year , guys upcoming fighting 6 rounders etc imo theres no reason they shouldnt be fighting every 6-8 week to earn there stripes and a wage

Explain how boxing so infrequently that you lose sharpness, and end up taking more punches and worse hidings when you do eventually fight is "good for your health".

Surely the best way to stay safe in the ring is to be sharp and "match fit"?The number of fights per year is dwindling --- used to be 6+ now 2-3...what next a one-fight-a-year limit!
No wonder boxing is losing popularity.

More fights + less sparring = better health!

I think if your starting your career fighting journeymen it's fair enough to fight very frequently but 6 world level fights a year is far too many

Bear in mind that "world level" aint what it used to be.

6 fights at Quigg or Quillin "world level" preferable to countless gym wars IMO.

Who in the uk is having 'gym wars'? Spaaring is for learning not beating the **** out of each other. If you got to America I believe it's a lot tougher sparring but over here I think it's fairly tame. I've also heard a lot of fighters say that they like to take time between fights when they're not in a camp to work on things and their weaknesses where as the build up to a fight is more fine tuning
