I know Joe Laws and Cyrus. Joe certainly didn’t reach the expectations he set for himself on social media.

Cyrus sounded ok in the post fight interview but there’s been one or two of his interviews where his speech has been concerning to me. His eyes also have a bit of a glazed look.

Another fighter getting used by MR a bit like Ted Cheeseman did. After a hard war boxers need time to regroup and readjust.

He didn’t sound too bad post fight today but in a few interviews I’ve heard him slurring. I used to know him years ago and I was shocked when I heard him speaking.

He’s had some wars in the amateurs and in the gym with Pat and Luke too I’m told.

Danny Williams once won after having 3 points deducted in his first fight against John McDermott.

If his task was uphill after that, he lost nearly every round.

Incredibly, Williams got the nod on points in what was the 2nd worst cards ever seen - the worst card ever was Tyson Fury v John McDermott.

Anything is possible when fights go the cards due to a combination of corruption and/or incompetence

 

Wonder what's causing the needle here? Yafai seems pretty arrogant even though he's walking this so far

 

I think I remember the interview you posted with Laws, the lad seems off his nut. He must look at the likes of Brandon Scott and think "if only I could have just reigned myself in a bit, took everything that little bit more seriously and just took a second to think before opening my mouth". I think the Haney talk set the bar so high for himself that once Rylan Charlton, a full time chef at the time, knocked him all over the place and made him look like a drunk in a Wetherspoons he was never going to come back from that. Even as a gimmick Laws could have had a good run and made some decent money if he was managed better, mainly by himself.

 

Round 1: Yafai KO

Fast start from Yafai as he applies the pressure. He quickly floors Tommy Frank twice and can’t miss with his punch combinations. Blood seeps from the nose of Frank as Yafai attempts to force the stoppage.

And the towel comes in. WHAT A PERFORMANCE FROM GALAL YAFAI INFRONT OF HIS COME CROWD.

To put this into context, Tommy Frank got stopped after 10 rounds against Jay Harris who went the distance with Juliet Cesar Martinez and is a former European Champion.

Galal Yafai may be the real-deal. We did think this would be a mismatch but that was a statement victory from Yafai.

 

This main event must be the worst ever seen in a UK ring with the outsider 38/1 at the Bookmakers and his performance looked like the odds should have been 138/1.

 

Yafai needs to get out again this year. I wouldn’t mind Jay Harris as he was the intended opponent for tonight but wasn’t ready for this date. That was impressive - remember this is Yafai’s only 5th fight. He is the real deal. Frank took Harris 10 rounds.

 

The only statement made in this fight is that Matchroom are a disgrace having this huge mismatch headlining one of their events.

Screamed through first gear and hit the revs just below the redline in second gear for the win.
