This doesn't even make any sense. You want to know why Paulie's punches were effective? Juan CAN get you out but he needs to out hustle you, out land you and wear you down. Paulie's punches kept Diaz from being able to do any of those 3 things... that's pretty effective. :deal

I don't recall the punch stats, but most of the rounds looked pretty even to me in terms punches landed, and I will always go with the guy who does the most damage when all other things are anywhere close to even.

I'm not knocking anyone who chose Paulie or thinks Paulie got robbed. It's just my personal thing and I think most judges probably agree. I can't stand a feather-fisted fighter, he brings no drama, he can't do anything to the other guy. To win on my scorecards, he's got to be head and shoulders above the other guy in all other ways, a la Ivan Calderon. This wasn't that kind of fight.

It's not enough to just keep the other guy from knocking you out or hurting you badly, you have to hurt HIM.

That's kind of my point though, he kept Diaz from hurting him and so it basically put them on even terms. So if Diaz never had Paulie hurt and Paulie didn't have Diaz hurt, then if we look at who was able to control the fight and pace then you'd have to go with Paulie.

Although I agree from an entertainment standpoint it isn't as interesting as seeing two guys landing power shots, you still have to respect and more importantly correctly reward a fighter with no power for his ring generalship and boxing technique. Fighters like this have a very small margin of error and once a fight goes wrong for them it is hard to turn the tide as they don't have an equalizer. I don't think anyone should be giving Paulie credit for something can't do but that doesn't negate what he does well and it IS part of the sport even if it isn't a popular part of the 'business'.

Yah all of paulies punches were light and had nothing on em? Speed hurts, Diaz's face was ****ed up. Paulie was almost unmarked.

Also, there is more to scoring a fight than clean punching. there is defense, ring generalship and effective agressiveness.
