A few interesting snipets of information there.

I never knew that Galento was friends with Jack Johnson for example.

One thing that surprises me (and this is not the only place I have seen it), is that Galento tends to rate technical boxers rather than punchers.

Why wouldn't he? We cherish most what we don't have, and in Galento's case it was technical skills. He had an abundance of toughness and power.

I would say that most fighters seem to cherish most what they do have e.g punchers always rate punchers.

You can't ever take Galento's statements too seriously. For example he says he would've been paid for carrying Mickey Walker. Walker's heavyweight career was largely over after 1932 when Galento was hardly the caliber of a fighter to "carry" the likes of Mickey Walker.

Destroy? Mabey in an eating contest, a bar or underwater with octopuses. I think Two Ton losses at least 2 matches here.

...am I the only one that is absolutely blown away by the notion of a Galento-Firpo match?

He pick Ali to beat Liston, one of the very few to do so.

    Nothing crazy about it.

I'd pick Galento over all of them, bigger puncher, better chin, very dirty pressure fighter who despite what people think actually knew how to fight. In shape he also had pretty good stamina, he'd seriously maim these guys.

He also called Ali a bum. Later he picked Ali to regain the title from Leon Spinks. You never knew what you were going to get out of him. There was Galento the character and Galento the man and sometimes the two even got confused.

Firpo vs Galento would be savage.
