I do think we’d get interesting results if Galento hit Dubois with the same left hook he knocked Louis down with, if he even gets that far.

I don’t have actual measurable proof, but it’s an informed assumption.

Galento was 5’9 233lbs, and around 30%+ body fat, so if he got lean, say, 15% body fat, I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised surprised if he was in the 160-168lbs range, which may seem like an exaggeration, but people often overestimate how much muscle they or others have under their fat.

I’m not saying muscle=power, but if he’s naturally in the 160s, then being 230lbs+ will mean a lot of that isn’t useful weight.

Yes power is about developing motor unit recruitment to a large degree, but muscle is contractile tissue and it helps move your body, so if you have a higher proportion of muscle relative to fat, then you’re likely gonna be puncher harder relative to your weight.

Yes fat can help your absolute power, because when your muscle has accelerated your body into throwing, the fat, which is weight, helps create more momentum, like a truck that takes a while to speed up, but is devastating if it crashes into something.

But if you get someone Galento’s weight, but lean, then it’s far more contractile tissue, so the body is moving itself, rather than having to move dead weight.

Bottom line, if someone puts on fat if they’re lean, their power may increase to a degree, but their relative power will drop (relative to their weight).

I dunno and I could be wrong but possibly due to Galento having passed near 20 years before Daniel Son was even born?

I certainly wouldn’t call it a deliberate “duck” on Dubois’ part - unless he partook in some Butterfly Effect voodoo to rebirth himself only after the Fat Man had left the building .

Okay, enough of the silly jokes but I am bemused as to why Galento wasn’t part of the discussion re the best skilled big men.

    A major oversight.

The proverbial elephant in the room - and that elephant is Two Ton Tony - dare I say, Triple T?

Under that keg belly there was a six pack screaming to get out.

I think we all need to stop being such Shallow Hals and look more deeply to see Tony’s inner beauty…and I do mean deeply.

I’d like to see Galento’s return fire after Dubois punches him in the nuts….

The Fat Man: ”Lol. That’s not a foul…this a foul!”

Down goes Dubois, down goes Dubois…..
