Here are the lines from a well-known site... comments? where is the value? i like quintana and lopez as live dogs (+140 and +150 respectively) i also like the over in the quintana-williams rematch -- ngoudjo -285 m'baye +225 over 9' -360 under 9' +280 ponce de leon -180 lopez +150 over 10' -150 under 10' +110 pavlik -2000 lockett +1000 over 6' -110 under 6' -130 forrest -500 mora +300 over 10' -175 under 10' +135 williams -170 quintana +140 over 10' -160 under 10' +120
A lot of my money is riding on JuanMa.....but yes your right Quintana is a great "value bet" also. Otherwise I like the under rounds for Pavlik/Lockett; I think its going to be a blowout. I also think there is some good value on the Mora/Forrest under; I don't think Mora can hang in there for over 10 rounds (and its +130 on top of it).
btw i'm trying to figure out the angle i'm missing on the quintana-williams rematch... i've rewatched the first fight at least 3 or 4 times now, and i can't see why this fight isn't pick'em or with a slight lean toward quintana (i had quintana winning 7-5 or 8-4)... granted lederman had williams winning 7-5 but i think it was pretty clear quintana won the fight (even from the perspective of lampley, kellerman and lewis who started the fight saying how dangerous and avoided a fighter williams was) the last time i felt like i missed an angle was in the hopkins-calzaghe fight where i took the dog and then realized as the fight was progressing that a mega-fight between calzaghe and roy jones in cardiff was at stake
Yeh but the problem with betting on Quintana is that I could see a robbery coming. Everyone knows that Williams had the hype behind him going into that fight, but theres just no way a person in their right mind could score the first fight for him. My problem is that if the rematch ends up close I can damn near guarentee it will go to Williams
I put some dough on Juanma Lopez & Carlos Quintana. If both win i make a quite nice little profit.:yep Got some money on Ricardo Torres against Kendall Holt in early July, as the opening odds in Australia were very good.
I'm riding on JuanMa and Quintana this weekend but not big money also i placed my bets a while ago and got better odds than those.
How do American odds work - I assume a + guy is against, whilst a - guy is odds on? Or is it not that simple? Quintana PTS Williams Pavlik TKO Lockett Forrest TKO Mora Lopez PTS Ponce De Leon
Say a fighter is -130, that means you would have to bet 130 dollars to make 100 dollars...it other words, he's the favorite. On the flipside, if the fighter is +1000 it means if you bet 100 and he wins you win 1000. I think of the +1000 at 10 to 1 odds, easier to explain to people that way, in a sense. Hope that helps
I hate to sem-hijack the thread, but can someone explain to me the deal with online betting? Is it legal, or do the laws vary from state to state, and which sites are best to use? Right now I have a $100 bet with a poster from another board on Quintana-Williams. With Quintana being the underdog, I'd like to have money on him at a site where I can take advantage of the odds.
It is "illegal" to bet in America online, but a number of websites still take action. So far, to my knowledge, nobody has ever been arrested in America for gambling online, at least not for that soul purpose. People have been arrested for something else and had that thrown on top of it however. I gamble online everyday and I know of thousands other who make their living doing it. As long as you pay your taxes, you're fine. This is not trying to be a smart ass answer, but the best site to use is the site that will give you the best odds, lol. Some of the bigger ones in America or Bodoglife.com and Thegreek.com. Between those two The Greek usually has better lines. There is a Sports Book Review website (just google those words) that gives you independent ratings on every website and says if it caters to americans or not.
Okay, cool man. Thanks for breaking it down it for me. I'ma look right into it now. :good Oh, and when I asked which site is the best to use, I was meaning as far as reputation. I know I've seen posters on boards complain about certain sites taking longer to pay out than others. But yeah, if you're getting better odds on one site than the other, I guess it's worth the wait in the long run.
Not necessarily the best site for boxing, but definitely the most diverse in terms of proposition bets, is 5dimes.com. As far as I know, it's still accepting deposits from U.S. customers. Nobody is going to bust you for online gambling unless you start making regular offshore wire deposits in the four digit range into your checking account. Obviously hitting a site while on a work computer probably isn't a great idea either. Seriously, is ANYONE betting DPDL this weekend?
