    Can't say I like your betting style, but if you've made money in the long-run, good for you. Doesn't look like you've made much money since you started posting these though.

    No this has been a really rough run for me, but yes I am definitely still ahead from where I started.

    Katsidis and Pavlik were two big losses for me. Kats was I think my biggest ever but I also lost pretty big on Mayorga vs DLH.
    My biggest wins were Vasquez / Marquez 2 and 3
    Pac Morales 2 and 3, Pac / Marquez 2
    Pavlik Taylor 1 and 2, Pavlik v Miranda
    Calzaghe / Lacy
    Fedor over Sylvia (odds weren't great but I bet a lot)
    There are a lot more but I can't think of them now
    I have a thread in another forum that goes back years with all my bets both good and bad just google "Gambling with Stovepipe"

    Also, just catching a lot of smaller nice paydays like Saul Roman over Ouma at 17 to 1. The winnings have climbed slowly and steadily over the years I have been doing it but this is a pretty big draught.

    I think the odds on Calzaghe vs Jones are only this close because of Jones legendary status. He hasn't done anything to deserve the odds being this close but people love the man for what he has accomplished, understandably so, plus Joe still is vastly under rated, even more so after Hopkins, a fight in which you can argue BHop quit when he went for the BS low blow and took full advantage of the time out.
    So I see Calzaghe as effectively having forced BHop to call a fake foul to catch a break and I see that as impressive.

    Of course, I was dead wrong about Pavlik / Hopkins, but it only adds to what Zag accomplished by forcing him to look for a way to take a break.

    Jones has done exactly what? Tarver 3 - loss. Prince Badi - ho hum. Hanshaw - he struggled and it was Hanshaw. Tito of modern times at 170? means nothing.

    So, the last light heavy that Jones decisively beat was Clinton Woods over SIX years ago. I see these odds as faith, celebrity odds and denial of Zag's abilities. Kessler is such a solid guy and he took care of him. That fight should have signalled the end of the doubts.

    Oh well, maybe Jones will pull it off, but to me that is more like a Fairy Tale than reality, but I have to admit I have read many smart people picking Jones.

    Lets see what happens.

    *****

    I went with Dwyer from Gamblers Advisory on taking the Abraham KO. I feel strong about that bet as well.

    +++++

    Augustus is a favorite of mine and at these odds vs a young gun its worth a play, I made it a bit bigger than I should have I guess cuz I enjoy the guy and really want him to win this one, but also, you can look at all his recent losses going back years and find reasons why they happened that make me think he has a legit shot here

    *******

    Salita got knocked down by Montano and at 20 to 1 its worth a five buck shot

    (((((((

    I wasn't the only one that thought Golota would take care of business.

    &*&&&(&)*&&)(*&)(*)_(*&_)(&)_&)(&_)&)(_

    Enjoy the card tomorrow everyone.

    Bet: Sakio Bika vs Peter Manfredo 11/12/08 Versus Network

    November 13, 2008 by bettingonboxing I am shocked the odds are about even. I thought Bika would -300 to -500. I know it is in Fredo’s backyard but Bika is fierce, yes he is wild too at times but I expect him to stop Manfredo, who isn’t really a true 168 puonder, sure he made the distance vs Lacy but is Lacy the same guy who he was before the Calzaghe fight? And Fredo still lost vs Lacy. I suppose one might think if he survives vs Bika and the homer ref gives Bika a few point deductions along the way he could eke it out. But I am thinking a homer ref won’t be enought to hold off Bika and I don’t think Fredo is nearly a good enough boxer, like Calzaghe and Bute, to be able to contain the intensity of a Bika. Bika might be a bit rusty, his last real fight was vs Codrington on the contender finale, but hopefully he stayed in decent shape he has had one fight since then.
    I had to bet big here. I just can’t see Fredo holding off Bika for 12.
    Straight Wager 11/12/08 22:50 ET bet 300.00 to win 315.00 Result: Pending Super Middleweight Fight - Providence RI Peter Manfredo Jr
    Sakio Bika 11/13/08(20:45 ET)
    Sakio Bika +105
