It's not though in all likelihood since Rojas isn't ranked by any of the sanctioning bodies unfortunately.

Gamboa is truly a one of a kind prospect. Haven't seen handspeed and reflexes like that since a young RJJ. Though I would like to see him keep his hands up more.. but he's so damn quick, he can get away with keepin the gloves low.. again similar to RJJ...

Difference being, RJJ was that quick in a weight class that didn't have anyone quick enough to counter him.

If Gamboa keeps being as cute as he's been to this point when he starts facing the tougher fighters of his division with a little more handspeed, he may not like the results.

    There is only one RJJ.

I thought Rojas was ranked at 126, but infact he's ranked #2 by the WBA at 130. Gamboa is ranked #3 so an eliminator at 130lb is possible, even if it isn't preferred.

I'd love to see Gamboa/Rojas at 130 for a potential shot at Valero. Personally, I think he'd stop Valero early. He'd just come out swarming Valero with an endless barrage of powershots from every angle. Valero would be overwhelmed. With his lack of defensive skills and his less-than-iron chin, I don't see this going long.

(HBO) James Kirkland (21-0) vs. Eromosele Albert (21-1)
(HBO) Yuriorkis Gamboa (9-0) vs. Darling Jimenez (23-2-2)
(HBO) Alfredo Angulo (12-0) vs. Richard Gutierrez (24-1)
    Odlanier Solis (9-0) vs. TBA

    thats one helluva card.

I agree, Gamboa would stop him early. Valero has no defence, throws wide shots and can't fight going backwards. Yuri would swarm him and nuetralise his power by making him fight off the back foot. Valero would panic and his shaky chin would get cracked by Gamboa's combinations.

Gamboa was never stopped in over 400 bouts in the amateur's and has walked through everything that has been thrown at him so far (most fighters with shaky chins show bad signs at early stages). I think Yuri can take his shots aslong as he keeps him on the backfoot.

    Gamboa TKO2

No, Rocky would get to him. Gamboa wont be able to hurt Rocky and although rocky does not carry a high pace he can counter well which will cut Gamboas punch output.

Hey Amsterdam, where do these two rate purely on skill in comparison to Pernell Whitaker do you believe?
