Gamboa = Amir Khan

why do people keep mentioning Linares when talking about Gamboa.

Linares hasnt fought anyone and people talk like hes the next Marco Antonio Barrera.

 

Steve Kim from Maxboxing said the same thing in his article today.

 

Well, how many Breidis Prescotts are there at featherweight? The division is not that deep, that could save the day for Gamboa. But it may not take an extreme puncher to ko him. Just a world class guy with a decent punch who can follow up when he knocked him down. And i dont see him that much better than Khan. I dont get it why people already think he is or will be p4p material. I do not see that in him.

 

to say gamboa has faced stronger opposistion than khan is stupid. They both got knocked on their arses by non heavy-handed boxers, to then go on to stop them. Till Khan met someone with a 90% Ko ratio and got ****ed up. you can bet if gamboa met someone in his first 19 fights with power comparitive with prescott he would get ****ed up aswell.

As for comparing them both then IMO khan is faster and more skillfull while gamboa is smarter,has more power, more disciplined and has a better chin (if thats a compliment). Bottom line is they're both gonna provide thrills and spills over the next couple of years and i for one am glad they are around.

 

Nah! Khan will be lucky to make it at Euro level whereas Gamboa will be unlucky not to be better than just a solid world class fighter. Gamboa hasn't faced much better competition at all; arguably, not better, in fact. Who knows, for all we know, Prescott could be much better than we thought, and Willie is somewhat underrated.

 

gamboa knows that he can brawl with these guys and KO them early, if gamboa fought a puncher who could knock him out then he would be more solid defensively.

personally i think his promoter and trainer are bad for him, his promoter already thinks he is the best fighter around, when actually gamboa needs to mature and his trainer has no control because his promoter will sack him if he doesn't do what he wants him to do.

gamboa needs to leave his promoter and sign up with top rank, bob arum will give him the right fights, and he will get him the right team behind him.

 

didn't the guy gamboa was fighting have a 80 or 90 % KO rating. Kid has a lot to learn. But I don't think he's like Khan, every knock down I have see has been flash knock downs he recovers fast so the knock down could be from weight drain. We will see soon enough.

Gamboa opposition been extremely weak? hahaha It's funny the absurdities you can read in this website... His last few opponents were good boxers that would give a good boxing fight to ANY of the current champs and yet Gamboa got rid of them like they were nothing (yeah having two flash KDs in the way...). I mean, actually Gamboa is been facing better competition than the actual champs lately and you still don't give the dude a break.

And please stop praising Prescott!!!! Prescott only got Khan that easily because Khan has the weakest chin of the entire game and got caught. How in the hell are you going to compare Gamboa's Chin to Khan's??? Both times that Gamboa went down would have been lethal for Amir Khan. Going back to Prescott, he had a hard time with Abril in his fight before Khan (he only won by partaged decision)... And Abril is another Cuban fighter that is NOTHING compared to Gamboa... He is not even known in his hometown of MIAMI which is full of Cuban boxing fans. If anything Marco Ramirez is 20x more special than Abril and yet you see some clown in this website starting a thread Prescott vs Gamboa lol... You people just like to hate and this will never change...

EDIT: Here I give you a link to both Prescott and Abril... this is enough information for you to realise how they are nothing, just two dudes with good stats that faced each other and one had to loose... This also shows how Amir Khan was/is nothing (mostly because of his chin, but having an ok chin is important in boxing)...
