These 2 have been a huge part of the 130-135 divisions for the last decade, but is it time for them to call it a day now after 2 pretty brutal beatings last night?
Logic would tell you it’s time. But as long as promoters offer them decent money to test their younger guys, they’ll keep showing up unfortunately. Don’t be surprised to see Gamboa vs Ryan Garcia or Chris Colbert next..
Gamboa really disappointed as just stood there arms down eating shots. Talk about 40 years old being 75 in boxing this was a prime example!!!!
It's that all too familiar story of a fighter going to the cookie jar too many times. You can't keep going to the cookie jar because one day when you go to collect a cookie the jar will be empty.
Sad to see Gamboa in that condition. He looked truly horrible. Vargas probably got lucky as he was concussed just once and the fight was over. Gamboa is starting to take some life-altering punishment now.
They're risking serious long-term effects by continuing to fight. Gamboa has a big name inside boxing circles, so he'll still be used to pad up-and-comers' resumes. Both need to retire ASAP.
I would hope so. Theyre shells of their former selves and can no longer take punches. Their era has passed.
These guys know what they're getting into If you eat your hen don't cry when you no longer have anymore eggy weggy to eat
Sorry in particular to see Gamboa go. I really was hyped about him and all he became was a cautionary tale that drove a yellow Lambo for awhile. Tank should take note.
