If Gamboa took the advance.. that was extremely stupid of him.... but you can't knock him for wanting fair treatment against an organization that has had a fair share of issues with fighters in the past based on finances and "loyalty"......... He really shouldn't have taken the advance and shoul dbe sued for it.. but I'm hoping all these accusations aren't true and he takes TR to court and gets out of his contract with them (if that's even possible)
Broner or John couldn't happen (if he had any sort of contract with Top Rank) as they are GBP and they hardly ever let their fighters fight each other these days unless their is little to lose. Still though plenty guys at TR for Gamboa to fight - Cruz, garcia, Magdelano, Lopez (before 2nd beat down), Rigo and a couple of divisions down Donaire, vasquez, Arce. The problem is other than Donaire (which wouldn't happen yet) none are really big names, Rios is a decent name who would really up his credability as a P4P fighter. It's a big risk but a one Arum was willing to take as either way he is a winner. Rios wants it because he feels he is favourite and a win over Gamboa puts him over big. Gamboa should have nipped this in the bud, he may not have signed a contract but he certainly gave the impression he wanted the fight when it turns out he didn't really. lessons to be learned but I fear Gamboa is going to have his career stalled for a while now while this mess gets sorted out.
Glamboa was supposed to make 1.2 million... MORE than Rios, who is arguably a BIGGER star. atsch Glamboa's a ****** ass *****. No wonder he ran off to join Money May, P4P boxing's premiere coward.
Who knows if this $1.2M is a reliable number and how much would Gamboa get after the TR/Öner cutoff. Point is still no contract being received, extension demands rumored and the fight being 2 divisions higher than Gamboa's natural. Are we really going to call out everyone for not jumping up two divisions with no details on gloves, ring size, overweight punishment, judge selection etc... Funniest thing is that ppl. would stand behind Gamboa against Arum/Öner tossing him around if he hadn't visit the Mayweather gym, talk about objectivity...
Hey slow there, you wouldn't want them to end up like Ali would you. Remember Floyd has done his homework already .
If he took the $70,000 he should/has to pay that **** back.. Only stupid thing I think he did... If he didn't like the (contract) situation he was in or they were trying to force him in, good he didn't accept. No reason to get ****ed over because fans want to *****. They will always find something to ***** about, fight fans are fickle as ****.
How can anyone defend Gamboa is beyond me :nut Let's review the facts - he was the one who called out Rios - he accepted 70000 in advance - he allowed Top Rank to invest lots of money entering into agreements with Mandalay Bay, HBO, Rios camp, marketers, sponsors, and countless others - the ****** allowed the tickets to go on sale, so by pulling out he screwed all the fans that bought tickets and made plans with hotels, reservations, etc - he himself requested the press conference to be held in his hometown Miami and Top Rank spent tens of thousands of dollars to accomodate the punk's wish, just to leave everyone out to dry. After allowing ALL this, the ***** dares to pull out of the fight, blubbering stuff about his contract when he had countless chances to do it before. Gamhoe-a must be a complete ****** if he thought he would get away with this. In short...unforgivable, inexcusable. I really hope Top Rank leaves this clown penniless like the disgrace to boxing he is, and send him back to Cuba in a wooden boat, the unprofessional **** atsch
