I want to settle the damn vbookie event so I can go to bed. :dead Does anyone know what happened? :yep
Gamboa TKO1 Luque, time: 1:54 1st knockdown after 30 seconds (left hook) 2 more knockdowns in the process to make the ref waving off the bout... looks like Gamboa will be back in February, possibly on 2/29 ShoBox opener to Guerrero v. Litzau...
This was useless as hell:-( In mean in the sense of him developing. And his next fight is after nearly 2 months according to you:verysad They are wasting time in which he can fight decent opposition imo. What are they ''doing'' with him?:huh Starting out so good and now everything seems to be very unorganised all over a sudden.. Or am I wrong?
You need to calm down. Gamboa's real opponent pulled out of the fight and it was impossible to find a good opponent for him a few days before the match. And just because his opponent sucked doesn't mean the performance wasn't noteworthy at all. Gamboa did what a true elite prospect should have done in that situation, he made it look like Luque didn't belong in the same ring as him right away. Take a different supposed "elite" prospect that is hyped right now, Anthony Peterson. Early on in his career he fought Johnny walker (18-16-0), who has 9 KO losses. Peterson couldn't KO him in an 8 rounder. Gamboa KO'ed Luque in less than 2 minutes, faster than anyone has KO'ed him before. He's rising up fast.. don't think this match will affect his rise at all. There's also nothing wrong with a match on February 29th, that's not a long time to get another fight on a big network/network undercard.
Hold on a moment. I saw nothing bad in matching Gamboa vs. this late substitute - this was on maybe 4 days notice. Gamboa is just that kind of fighter who needs to stay busy and who WANTS to stay busy - it's just his temper. It would have been bad to cancel the fight.
Hmm well after seeing 3 posters saying it's not a problem I guess I'm overreacting/wrong. Maybe I am expecting too much. A while back he had like 2 fights in one month.. so I figured they (he and his team) would continue like that...for a few more weeks. And also because I think Öner should have known/informed Norwood is known for pulling out of fights at the last moment. I understand that it was impossible to find someone decent at the last moment though. Peace!
He's one of the best looking P4P prospects in years.. the only thing you need to worry about is Gamboa's chin. His skills are clearly sensational.
Gamboa beating a no-hoper last night is no big deal. It was a very short notice replacement, so you cant expect too much. The good thing is that he stayed busy and did what he should have in the ring. When a top prospect is in with lower level opponents he needs to look good and Gamboa seemed to do just that. As for Gamboa fighting on Showtime, now that's good news. Will be nice to see him on t.v instead of the internet. Being its on ShoBox he should be in reasonably tough as well. It wouldn't be surprising to see him squeeze another bout in between now and the end of Feb, he seems to stay active. Hope he is on Showtime and in with a solid guy, I'll be looking foward to it.
