Okay I'll start with the first news, Gamboa is planning a title shot for his next fight, before the end of the year. Here is what his team had to say:

"We are already negotiating with different world champions", states promoter Ahmet Öner. "Fact is that HBO wants to go on with Gamboa. I am pretty sure that we will agree on a date and opponent soon. Yuri is just incredible. He is without a doubt the most exciting prospect in the sport; the people just love his spectacular style. And we all want to see him go for a title."

"Right now we are looking into two options, the first one is a fight in Las Vegas the day before De La Hoya and Pacquiao, the second option is a fight in Miami. We will probably negotiate with Oscar Larios for the 126 belt, but only if the Mexican wins his next fight where he is defending his title", explained Luis de Cubas, chief of operations for Arena Box Promotion.

Some of you think he is not ready and I can easily understand that. I do think he needs the title shot right now and that he can pull it easly. It wouldn't surprise me to see him floored a few times with his all wild style, but I see him KOing any of the champs they'll put in front of him at 126.

    --------------------------------------------------------

Now, for the stop hating part of the subject I'll just copy-paste what I've just typed in the "Gamboa = Khan" thread:

Gamboa opposition been extremely weak? hahaha It's funny the absurdities you can read in this website... His last few opponents were good boxers that would give a good boxing fight to ANY of the current champs and yet Gamboa got rid of them like they were nothing (yeah having two flash KDs in the way...). I mean, actually Gamboa is been facing better competition than the actual champs lately and you still don't give the dude a break.

And please stop praising Prescott!!!! Prescott only got Khan that easily because Khan has the weakest chin of the entire game and got caught. How in the hell are you going to compare Gamboa's Chin to Khan's??? Both times that Gamboa went down would have been lethal for Amir Khan. Going back to Prescott, he had a hard time with Abril in his fight before Khan (he only won by SD)... And Abril is another Cuban fighter that is NOTHING compared to Gamboa... He is not even known in his hometown of MIAMI which is full of Cuban boxing fans. If anything, Marco Ramirez is 20x more special than Abril and yet you see some clown in this website starting a thread Prescott vs Gamboa lol... You people just like to hate and this will never change... (this being said, Prescott is a huge dude and Gamboa is very small, so it wouldn't be fair to put both of them together, but P4P the comparison is just absurd).

Here I give you a link to both Prescott and Abril... this is enough information for you to realise how they are nothing, just two dudes with good stats that faced each other and one had to loose... This also shows how Amir Khan was/is nothing (mostly because of his chin, but having an ok chin is important in boxing)...

well at least he's fighting a past his prime champion so it shouldn't be nothing he can't handle. larios does have a win vs. vasquez when in his prime, which he isn't now. lets get it on!

Larios is banned from the US since his brain damage suffered in the Linares fight therefore both Miami and LV is out as well as every other US site.

Gamboa to fight Larios in Mexico then? Not the best idea IMO. Canada? Arena doesn't have co-partner there. Germany? Well... it doesn't make sense if US TV is involved (and has to be involved for Gamboa's world title try.)

If Larios is the fight and before the end of the year, where, when and how are all difficult questions. No reason to rush especially with HBO supporing him.

I'd say fight a tuneup or two in the upcoming months and get title title fight back on HBO BAD early 2009.

A title? Perhaps a NABF International whatever title?

A fight with Larios wouldn't be so bad seeing as he's passed his prime.. Gamboa's gonna' need to work on his defense and cockiness before in steps with anyone on the elite level as his chin is questionable..

Anyways, I see him losing in the near future..

Of course there's another way to look at it.

Believe it or not, Gamboa has already fought 3 top15 ranked contenders. Since the organization rankings are made for the champion to choose an opponent from it (+ fight mandatories who are ranked at the top) - why not fight these contenders as a wolrd champion?

The IBF title is vacant. Larios is definitely beatable, although still a tough dude. Gamboa ranked high.

Fighters who fight top15 contenders and ranked high are usually getting title shots. Why shouldn't Gamboa go after a belt right now?

He already got that shiet in his 9th fight... :patsch

He also got WBC International in his tenth.

He got WBO NABO in his eleventh.

And for the next fight they want WBC/WBO/WBA/IBF material.

Yeah, anyway he was already top 5 for almost all the belts (even top 3 for WBC/WBA) before Marco Ramirez. Now after that KO2, he is probably top 3 for all the belts and probably first contender for some of them!

And I agree with you BigBone, I don't understand what they have in head for that fight. The funny thing is if it doesn't work with Larios, their second choice is Chris John and we all know he is not fighting in USA. They wan't HBO and they want one of these two fighters, it kinda doesn't go together. The only way I see Gamboa taking a belt from them before the end of the year is going to Mexico or Indonesia, grab the belt, but no HBO.

larios has brain damage and they're letting him fight, esp with a monster like gamboa? a healthy larios would give him a great fight, but this is truly sad

Gamboa better not be fighting Linares or John for the title. I know Linares can't make 126 anymore, but John might school Gamboa. Then again, you never know lol...Gamboa can punch with speed and power.

Linares already vacated his belt. Sadly, IBF is the one sanctioning body that doesn't rank him, so he probably can't go after that vacant belt. If the IBF ranks him high enough after this win, a Gamboa-Solis fight would make sense.

A fight with Larios in Mexico isn't out of the question.
