Gamboa is a knockout waiting to happen

Actually he has over 400 amateur figths,425 to be exact and the factthat he has been on HBO twice shows that he is good and a little overhyped.

 

Look, the knockdowns were not bad. He was not really hurt, there is nothing wrong with his chin. It could be put as unproven. Knockdowns are expected for this type of fighter, it happened to Naz all the time if he was off balance.

He has been fighting very good competition. Nobody has fought better comp than Gamboa in as few fights recently.

His offence is amazing, and it should carry him a long way. Sure he might get knocked out eventually, this is boxing, but he can also achive a lot.

 

Everybody said the same thing about Miguel Cotto. Has he been knocked out yet? Oh, nevermind. You're right!

 

Let me explain this my dears boxings experts...he has been down but he's never been in real trouble,he gets up,pulls himself together and either outbox or KO the other guy.I'll give u an example of another cuban turned pro with excellents skills and a weak chin who prevented him for being a durable champ..Diosbelis Hurtado.He was there with Pernell Whitaker for 10 rds and had the fight on his hands until Pernell rocked him and couldnt recover,same against Kostya Tszyu...it was a miracle he survived Bailey's right hand.At the end Vivian Harris retired him in 2 rds..that was a weak chin,he goes down and cant recover..but sometimes when a boxer falls has to do with bad footwork,off balance... I dont say Gamboa is the best ever,i dont know if he can beat the kinds of Pac,JMM and company,but he has plenty of talent to go wherever he wants if he stay focus.

 

He got elbowed on the chin last night. Elbows are hard. That does not happen every fight.

He was not really hurt against Jimenez. He got up and looked in control of everything, you must have a different definition to me.

I don't understand that comment, because I couldn't think of a fighter any more different to Casamayor. He is going to go about his business in a different way, quite obviously.

I don't expect he'll blast through everybody. I'm sure he'll realise he might have to go to the scorecards or at least the later rounds on occasion. He has the style to pick up points anyway. We can't mark him down or criticize him just because he's blown all his opponents away.

 

Havn't you just proven our point there? Trinidad got knocked out, but he's held up as an ATG on here, certainly one of the best of this era.

If Gamboa achieves the same and gets knocked out - who cares? To say "Gamboa is a knockout waiting to happen" is not exactly a bold or intuitive prediction, because this is boxing and its almost expected at some stage. Only remarkable fighters go their whole career at the top level not getting knocked out at least once.

 

Has he ever been badly hurt? I heard all his knockdowns were minor ones

 

What did he deserve credit for?

 

i has gone down but i do not think he has been hurt. his chin may be weak but he can also finish most fighters off before they have time to really hurt him.

I think he will get KTFO as some stage and i think he will learn from it. but a guy with over 400 fights should have a good defence the question is when is he going to use it.

 

And? They are different styles quite clearly. But you made some sort of weird comparison, that because Trinidad was knocked down a lot of times everyone knew he'd get knocked out. So...? It depends what you achieve other than the time you got knocked out.

I just don't want to be hearing **** from you if Gamboa picks up titles, makes the p4p top 10 etc, and then eventually he gets knocked out and you act like a messiah for predicting it.

Either call it right now that he'll be exposed straight away at world class level, otherwise this thread has no meaning.
