gamboa should fight a juarez or a soto type of fighter first before we can assess if he can beat pac this year. we still don't know how he will fare if a fight last 10 rounds never mind 12 rounds. as of now, he is quite impressive in demolishing quite good opponents and most of them are in the first couple of rounds.

he needs to take more rounds before they throw him out to the wolves.

He only has 9 pro fights......i know he's had over 400 amateurs but this is the pros here.

I say 2 more fights and he fights a top 10 guy.

Ok check this out. I can't call a person with that much experience a prospect. This guy has been fighting for a looooong time. He is a veteran and he is supposed to look like one. The fact we don't see this guys training and fighting when they are in Cuba doesn't mean they are not fighting. He already have two fights lined up. IF I was the manager I would make him fight someone easier than Pac. Because There are easier opponents holding belts. But you can't wait too long to put this guy against top opposition. Because he has a lot of miles in that body. I am sure he wants some real money ASAP.

To me Cuba doesn't have amateur fighters. They have unpaid professionals. If you know what I mean. How long can you be a boxer a still being called amateur???? Specially when that is all you do for a living

He is rated # 3 by WBA . . . he should push to fight Valero who is the belt holder or the rated # 2 Humberto Soto. :yep

You guys keep talking about him not having many rounds in him, but hell if he can knock you out in 1 or 2 rounds, why the hell does he need 12 rounds for ? And please listen men Gamboa is in great shape and would go 12 rounds easily, in cuba the dont train for the 4 round the fight in the olympics, they go at it like the old days, Gamboa has been in that boxing ring more times than Pacquiao so his experience is there, The pros is a different ball game from the amatures we all know that, but when you see an amazing guy in the olympics the first you say is "men how good will this guy be in the pros" well guess what... that guys is Gamboa, most of his fights so far have been like sparing seccions... and he has no need to go the 12 rounds, acutally in one of his fights you can hear him in the corner telling his trainer "i dont want to take him out yet I want to go the full rounds and knock him down in the last one" and of course he did.

Even Gamboa himself said he knows with only 10 fights people will not expect that fight with Pacquiao to happen, but if the fight does happen, that he will beat Pacquiao and demonstrate that his skill level is supirior wish i think it is..

And to call Gamboa overrated in ESB is insane because we as boxing fans have been praying for a fighter like Gamboa to come along and wow us off our seats. And so far he has done just that, so we give credit where credit is deserved.... he is not one of these protected promising prospects who is hand picking his fighters and fighting 2 or 3 times a year only, he wants it and hes coming to get it... that division is scared shitless right now and Gamboa is the reason why.

Irrelevant, pros and ams are different. Amir Khan beat Mario Kindelan, a legend in amateur boxing. If Kindelan is an unpaid pro, and a legend at that, then surely Khan too would have been ready to step up world championship level within 10 fights. Fact is, he was not.

Gamboa hasnt even been in with a C+ fighter yet and already people are blinded? He has alot of flaws and he looks amazing cos hes fighting guys who dont look so amazing. valero was KTFO out guys, some decent guys too like Garcia inside the 1st round. 1st test he has and he goes 12 hard rounds at championship level.

Gamboa is a great prospect but dont be fooled. Right now, id pick Valero, JMM, Guzman, Pac, Casa, Nate, Juan Diaz to beat him easily. B- level fighters like Soto would probably do it too. He needs to pick up the subtle changes in the pro's and fully adjust before he can jump in with the big boys.

:rofl Because he wont be knocking out elites inside 1-2 rounds. What happens when he needs to dig deep in the 10th round and hasnt ever done so before? hes gonna make alot of amateur mistakes and get KO. Simple as that.
