Gamboa is 26 already. He shouldn't be compared with the likes of Khan, who is 21. Gamboa is very experienced and the fact that he has only 9 fights on his record is a red herring. It's expected that he should fight decent opposition already. Let's see him against B level fighters and then we'll know how good he is. We'll of course compare him to other 26 year-olds... ...he will have to do amazingly well to continue being talked about so highly... ...remember...Chad Dawson, for example, is younger than he is and has beaten MUCH better opposition very impressively... ...so... Yeah...he is overrated given that he is 26 and hasn't fought a B level fighter yet...even Khan, who is 21, has beaten better fighters than Gamboa.
The whole Pac thing is a publicity stunt, of course. As if Pac would fight Gamboa! He won't even fight Guzman!
Ok first of all let me correct you, Mario Kindelan played with Amir Kahn both times he fought and beat him in the amatures, in the 2004 Olympic finals if you saw it, he beat him easily to win the gold medal. Back in Cuba Kindelan said he really liked Kahn as a young fighter, After the olympics Kahn expressed that his dream was to beat Kindelan the man who had beat him twice before turning pro , so Kindelan after he was already retirement went and fought Kahn in his hometown wish is uncommon for cuban fighter to be allowed to visit another country for such reason, but Kindelan was a legend in Cuba and so they allowed him, so Kindelan went and made Kahn achieve his dream.
He's not gonna knock everyone out.. Good KO ratio for now but do you believe he'll knock everyone out? Jones didn't KO everyone even in his early career. What the people wan't to see is proof..I'm also a gamboa fan, but i'm getting the other side of the story. There are people who prefer proof that he'll be able to carry what he brings till the last round.
Anyway gamboa is overrated but he deserves to be..:yepbut saying he beats pac right now is simply ridiculous as we need proofs. And lastly why put him against pac, I would want him to have the best possible path there is at SFW to established his legacy, a pac fight right now is way too big of a jump. After his fight with jimenez he'll be 10-0, and i prefer he takes on a path like this next Kevin mitchell Valero, then he becomes world champ only in his 12th win Baloyi, then he'll have 2 belts Roman Martinez - defense Soto - defense JMM - perhaps for the vacant WBC belt, he'll have 3 belts Fana - defense Guzman - for the final belt, also for the undisputed, linear title. now he'd clean 130 with under 20 fights:happy Then move 135 face the likes of pac, diaz, katsidis, khan, peterson:happy With under 30 fights, he'd already clean 2 divisions, is already HOF and ATG:yep:yep:yep How's that for nuthugging?:deal
You forget to mention that Kindelan was payed very handsomely by Warren to lose to Khan in the rematch...:yep
agreed, how in the world would pac fight someone with below 10 wins:yep I haven't seen pac fight someone recently with a record below 30 wins(check his opponents). And pac will a LW by june, gamboa needs to clean the division fast so he can catch up to pac at LW. Refer to my last post
everyone knows that was part of the deal (well at least everyone in cuba knows it) thats why that Kindelan lost has never been talked about in Cuba.
Good luck to Gamboa! Of course we should all be excited about him! But we should keep our feet on the ground too, at least until we see him against a B level seasoned pro.
Listen I toguht that both Gamboa and Rigondeaux could beat anybody in that divison including Pacquiao when they were both still in cuba as amatures, So why would'nt i think Gamboa can do it now that hes in the pros making this great name for himself ? Plus the reason I came to ESB was to tell people about Gamboa the day I heard the defected in Venezuela
Age is irrelevant, I have a friend who is 29. This guy can hardly be compared to Floyd Mayweather just because their the same age. the only thing you can compare is pro experience and thats that. Sure he has plenty of amateur experience but as I just said, Khan beat a guy with MORE amateur experience than Gamboa in Kindelan, doesnt mean he can just jump in the pros and dominate as he dominated the ams. And oh, obviously his management dont think he already has the neccesary experience otherwise they would put him in there with the top dogs straight away, or atleast B level fighters. They know for sure he has potential but their building up his experience, hence the C level fighters. Yet some here think he has enough experience already due to his amateur background. lol. And oh, until you can show me proof of Kindelan throwing that fight, I refuse to believe it. Besides if amateur legends are treated like Gods in Cuba, why would he needs pounds in his pocket?
Age is not irrelevant because it's directly correlated with experience, in his case. His amateur experience, whilst not perfectly relevant in the pro game is directly relevant here. How relevant remains to be seen, but it does count for something, that's for sure. Gamboa should certainly no be compared to a 21 year-old with 9 pro games to his name, for example. And Khan never really beat Kindelan...
