i think he's not ready for a 12 rounder yet. his stamina is suspect in one of his fights. hope he builds it when he becomes a contender.
I saw him last fight very impressive a rare combination of speed, accuracy and power they pushing him fast thru the ranks he is schedule on HBO card on the Mosley vs Judah.
I agree he's not on the level of RJJ. RJJ was more economical with his punches, and may be even more technically sound. RJJ did put his hands up at times. I'd say Gamboa reminds me of Tyson, albeit more slick. Great upperbody movement, combinations and footwork.
Sweet Pea you calm your hormonal teen ass right down. God forbid a boxing fan get excited and use hyperbole! :yikes
So after some pro fights hes the best thing to happen to boxing and is being compared to Ali. Why do I read the General sectionatsch
Does anyone know what his amateur record was or the quality of opposition he fought in cuba? I mean just being a top rated amateur boxer in cuba is a good sign but im curious how he fared in pan-american type games
I think he has tons of potential, but I thought the same thing about Andy Lee, so what the **** do I know?
You're not really reading though, are you? You're selectively reading, from the sound of it. The OP said nothing about Gamboa being the best thing to happen to boxing. That was the sentiment, likely a heat of the moment exaggeration, of one person, who's already taken more than enough flack for the faux pas. I don't recall any direct qualitative comparisons to Ali, either. Someone brought up Ali to make a point about Sweet Pea's crankiness. If you want to make a negative and dismissive comment about a particular subject, more power to you. Just make sure it's an informed one...and that means slowing down and not Cliffnoting the subject matter.
This all stems back to some guy saying he may end up being the best thing to ever happen to boxing. I think it was worth a little retort.
