Gamboa's defense and athleticism are what place him far above most prospects. He has more than just hand speed and power. He's a great athlete.

Dont mind me im just posting in this thread so I can bring it back up, if by some means Gamboa's chin cannot handle the elite.

Let the kid have a career first before you nominate him the greatest fighter ever, judge him on what he does, I remember the Andy Lee madness that came to such a screeching halt, however I doubt Gamboa will go out like that but who knows. Please let the kid do something first.

i was thinking about the same thing, haven't seen him perform in the mid and late rounds. But with 300+ amateur fights i could be wrong..

he's not comparable to lee but i get your point..

gamboa has better opposition than lee, if he does lose it will be like similar to david reid. But all in all, he's not your ordinary prospect, if you've watched how some ATGs fight early in their career(i.e SRR, floyd) you will see something similar, not that they're comparable but the minute you see it you know he's something special.

Hmmm i would say he will be competitive with the top guys and might beat some but i dont think he will last long at the top. He keeps his hands way too low and what about when he meets someone he cant KO. How is his stamina?

I have said this for a while now and i will stick to it yet. I think Barthelomy will be better than Gamboa in the long run. He is more technically sound and still has speed. Power might not be the greatest but hes got enough snap to keep anyone honest.

Gamboa's fighting Jose Rojas after Jimenez?????????? :yikes

He's going to have an elite resume barely into double digits!

No...they said he was going to relive Vargas' life. That's paranoid though. Vargas is a worst-case scenario. Plenty of guys are pushed fast and do just fine.

Better baptism by fire than have him feed on cans for forty fights like JCC Jr. :-(

You do know that I don't really have a problem with you. Just that I admitted like three pages earlier that it was an overstatement, and that I'm just excited about what the potential of the kid is, and yet your still bringing that crap up three pages later. you realize you look like an elitist ***** right?

Let's just be honest here: compare the current scene to the divisions from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and the earlier 2000s and you can only come to one conclusion. Boxing's declined.

No doubt boxing has declined, but only because of the politics involved. If you actually consider the quality of the boxer, boxers have gotten better. Just like football players are bigger faster and better, baseball players, and hockey players. Every sport the athletes are better, the problem with boxing is the politics has gotten crazy. Sort of like steriods have gotten crazy in baseball.
