No, you misunderstood , being in the inebriated state that you are. IntentionalButt made a few posts in response to me and others and was turning it into a big deal. I was merely reminding him that I made a simple remark to a statement that earned it, as it was out of line. Why make such a big deal out of my statement if you're criticizing me for doing the same to yours?

Dumb argument, you can't compare eras. It's not possible. Its like in rocky 6 when they do a computer gentrated fight between rocky and a legend, and Rocky wins. Its totally irrelevant. The boxers today are more athletic and faster. For example Mayweather never loses to Hagler like Hearns did in three rounds!

Unlike those sports though, the talent pool in boxing has declined, as the best athletes are now going to sports like football and baseball. So when the Ray Leonard type athletes used to go to boxing, they're now playing football. Look at the Heavyweights of today and compare them to the Heavyweights of the 70's. You can talk about evolution and all that, but film of the fighters very easily disproves that. The slow, generally fat, sluggish HW's of today are nowhere near the Heavyweights of past generations. They are simply bigger.

In the lower weight classes, there are some very good fighters even today, but it all comes down to the talent poll we have to draw from, as most athletes these days are going into different sports. We don't have that many star athletes joining boxing anymore, as the sport has lost appeal to the mainstream. That's why people cherish the old days.

Fair enough, I am drunk now. I'm just saying that it was an overstatement and you should give me credit for admitting it cause people rarely admit stupid statements on this forum!

The heavyweights of the 70's didn't weigh 240 pounds!

Hagler was a MW, Mayweather is a natural 130 pounder. He's smaller than Hearns, has less power, and has absolutely nothing to hold off Hagler with. You're correct though, he doesn't lose in 3 rounds. He loses in one.

Please tell me how the WW's of today are better than this:

Gamboa is Good, He's a real deal. But I watch again some of the Videos & he is hittable. He's short 5'5" height & he's just average lenght of his arms will be his Draw back. I pick Linares & Guerrero over him. Jab & straight punches with hard Chin is all these guys need to beat Gamboa. I pick Gamboa over Guzman. JMM will probably beat him right now.

Exactly, because they weren't fat and sluggish like Briggs, Maskaev, Peter, etc.

Do you consider a prime, 80's Mike Tyson to be primitive to those guys as well?

You just compared eras when you claimed that the fighters now are more athletic and better than fighters of the past.

The film clearly shows than Leonard, Hearns, Duran, and Benitez are unbelievably superior to Mayweather, Mosley, Cotto, and Margarito. There's just no other conclusion that anybody can come to, as long as they 1) have a brain and 2) know how to analyze fighters. The quality of fighters has decreased. My love for the sport has not, I'm just stating the obvious.

And to finish this off, Mayweather slugging with Hagler ends with Mayweather getting knocked the **** out in less than 3.

Yeah, weighing 240 pounds isn't a good thing in their cases.

I don't know I can't put any of them in with Hearns then, but I would like to see what happens. Hearns fights like such a Manny fighter, if you get past that jab your going to give them crazy trouble.
