You can't be serious, how can someone genouinly think Mayweather would beat Hagler.:patsch

    Think about this -

-Mayweather has admitted to struggling with southpaws, he will be fighting (IMO) the 2nd greatest southpaw of all time.

-He struggles with the technicle pressure of Castillo (a B+/A- level fighter) and you think he can handle the relentless pressure of Hagler. (If Hagler chooses to play swarmer)

-He struggles with fighters who have good jabs like Oscar and Castillo, yet you think he cannullify the awesome jab of Hagler.

-Mayweather lays on the ropes in ALL of his fights at some stage, how is he going to survive the damage Haglers body shots and combos are going to do. If he decides to play defence only, he'll get overwhelmed and stopped, if he tries to slug it out, he'll get stopped even quicker.

-Unlike Hearns, Mayweather is TINY compared to Hagler and has NOTHING to keep him off of him. Hagler will just walk through everything he throws.

-He can't outbox Hagler due to his size, power, workrate jab and bassically everything Hagler does.

-Oh and the fighters in the 80's are not the same as the 20's.

There is alot of other points i could bring up, but i think this will do.

So in 20 years, do you envision Heavyweights having 4 arms, standing 8 feet tall, with frickin laser beams attached to their heads?!

So now your referring to the 'show me' argument now that you don't have a logical case (presenting us with film, arguing stylistic advantages/disadvantages, explaining how their styles would mesh in the ring) ?

You can do better than that.

LOL, It really doesn't bother me to agree to disagree. I think athletes in general have gotten better, including boxers. You guys love history, I do too. But I don't like to sit back and discount the present because of an idealistic version of the past. The past ain't that much better than the present.

Hagler today, would be considered like a Margarito, the man does nothing particularly special, i would go so far as to say that Pavlik knocks the man out!

So you didn't watch the video I posted? You've seen one fight of Hagler's, maybe two, and those would be his fights with Hearns and Leonard, when past his prime, resorting to brawling, pressuring tactics rather than boxing, as he did in his prime. Actually watch the vid I posted and then say what you just said.

Do me a favor: take your mouse, press the 'Log Out' button, and never bother signing in again.

Don't EVER compare Hagler to Margarito. It's an insult to an all time great like Hagler. Watch some film and tell me Hagler wasn't a great technical fighter, a great counterpuncher, a great puncher, didn't have a great jab, and didn't have great footwork.

Pavlik knock Hagler out? Good one. Hagler had the best chin in boxing history in the lower weight classes. Took Hearns' best shots and walked through them. Hearns hits harder than Pavlik, not to mention he has better snap, speed, accuracy, timing, and overall impact power. Pavlik failed to KO Jermain Taylor in the second fight. No way in hell does he stop Marvin Hagler...impossible.
