Because Arum does not give a **** about boxing...

He is a businessman and both fighters are his assets...

Lets say they fight now.... Maybe Arum can make like 500.000.....

Lets say they fight in 2 or 3 years, get a bigger following, fans have wanted to see this fight for a long time..... Arum can maybe clear 2.000.000

    Makes sense no?

Because its not about what they want.... Its not about what the boxing fans want, its about $$...

Then you have UFC which is promoter of ALL of its fighters... They will match up the best fights because they win either way......

That's the problem with boxing.... Promoters use fighters like assets

The greed of boxing will be its downfall IMO

No. Because at 126 lbs... their following is not going to get any bigger than it already is. Arum simply wants to milk the money that he currently makes off of them. The fight is as big as it is going to get right now. They don't have a big pool of popular, big name fighters to beat and raise their profile anymore than it already is. The only thing that can happen from here on out is that one of them loses and this fight goes down the tubes.

They have already both been repeatedly exposed to the public. The people who are going to know about them already do. The only way to make either of them any bigger of a star is to put them in against each other.

Like I said before... Arum isn't looking to make that fight any bigger. He simply wants to keep collecting the money they are making right now.

Anything else he says is complete bull****. Don't believe a word of it.

"Gotta' bake the cake before you can eat it."

I see this fight happening by the end of the year.. Gamboa isn't getting a fight with John since he's intent on staying in Indonesia..

How delicious would it be if they both told Bob to shove his cake up his ass, left Top Rank, and made the fight themselves? Won't ever happen, but I can dream...

cuz lopez is a big money maker, and in few fights time gamboa will too be a big draw.

he will milk both of them till they both get fed up of not being able to fight each other and settle who is the best one.

i think it should be : Gamboa vs john for for one proper wba champ, and lopez vs haswaga for title unification.

then for lopez v gamboa as a built up fight and unification fight.

I don't know if the fight is going to get much bigger than it is now. Gamboa could get even more momentum by beating John I suppose but what can realistically happen in the next year or two to make this some sort of financial blockbuster?

The problem of boxing being all controlled by one promote like ufc is then the fighters would have no choice but to accept lower purses for the fight thus meaning that some of the talented fighters might not even to commit to the sport in the first place. Even if both fighters want it the problem that a loss causes to a fighter in 2days game is stopping us see the fights we want because everybody is obsessed by the no losses part of a fighters record. Gamboa is yet to build up a following as big as Lopez either and am unsure whether Arum would risk his more valuable cash cow taking a loss on his record and what that would do to his markeability. Things would be better if everybody fought the best like back in the day and a loss on a fighters record didnt cause them to backtrack in there career so much
