I note Arum was to keep JM Lopez and Gamboa apart to build up the event.

In the meantime you cannot have 2 WBA FW champs and if Gamboa beats the man who beat JM Marquez he will be the prime player

Gamboa is already the prime player, and yes he is willing to take on Chris John, and we all know the outcome of this fight.
the one i see could give gamboa problems before lopez is celestino caballero b/c of his size and his decent power, but i think caballero and lopez have some business to take care of.

Gamboa vs. John is a bigger fight than Gamboa vs. Lopez. John is the Featherweight World Champion, Lopez is an ABC titleholder. Whoever beats John will be the #1, but Chris is an outstanding boxer, and I'm still yet to pick any FW out there to beat him. However, Gamboa would be a huge threat for John's championship, that's for sure.

I think they will really clear the divisison before fighting each other. John created some name for himself so he is a good and beatable opponent for Gamboa. Lopez can fight Cabeiero.

If Gamboa looks like he did against Mtagwa against Chris John he's in my top 10 p4p. I think John has the style that will give Gamboa trouble.

Last think I remember is John holding for his life in the 12 round against Rocky. If it was 13 round match he was going out. I'm not sold on Gamboa but he should win this one

I agree with BigBone but I would add to your comment, I think John is on the slide. Remember, this guy has been champion through twelve defenses. In title fights since 2003, and is unbeaten in 45 fights. He may only be thirty but he's got a lot of miles on him and a Wushu career besides. I don't believe he's been in his prime durin the Juarez fights, his last two.

The second fight maybe it was a bad night it's hard to tell. But he showed some serious stamina issues.

Gamboa-John is not an easy fight to predict. Gamboa will have to fight smart, because John is a very smart fighter.

I see there a controversial Gamboa decision.

I agree. This will give Lopez an oportunity to fix those mistakes he keeps doing and give him a chance to make a better fight. The question here would be:How long would Gamboa be able to make 126lbs???

If Gamboa can get a non-controversial (at least a legit 115-113) win over John, I will call Gamboa the champ of the division hands down.

I think it will be an interesting fight. If John doesnt put on a boxing master peice I see John gettin stopped late possibly, or at least a kd in gamboa's favor.

IMO I see it, Gamboa SD John.

I'm really not at all sure about this, because it's a bit fuzzy. But sometime around the second fight I think John got quite ill. I just can't remember whether it was before or after. If it was before, maybe he hadn't completely recovered but I can't even remember what he was sick with. I'll have to look that up. Regardless, even in the first fight, which I believe he convincingly won and was robbed with a draw, he was getting tagged by some very good shots by Juarez. Juarez can bang but it is possible if it were Gamboa landing the same shots, he'd have gotten John out of there. It's an interesting fight that should be made though. I've wanted it since Gamboa landed this ''regular champion'' title BS. ...Jesus, I hate the WBA. That's not anything I hold against Gamboa, because it's just the way the WBA set it up. I'm just frustrated with it is all.

I think he was ill before the first fight but I'm not sure myself. I agree that match of John against either Gamboa or Lopez will be absolutely exciting. I believe that at this point either of them is going to walk him down in the latter rounds. But who knows maybe Gamboa is not ready and is going to be soundly out-boxed. That's the beauty of this match up. I's a good mix of styles at a very high level
