Gamboa not as good as Linares. Period.

Gamboa is a specimen for sure, but he has some major flaws. He throws a lot of unneeded shots, a lot of shots thrown that were blocked that had no need to be tossed, of course he went 10 strong, and looked ready for another 10 with no problems, his stamina is not an issue.

He drops his hands after throwing combos, this could be his achilles hill, as a vet with a good punch will just wait for him to toss his 10 shots, fire off a right-left hook combo and hurt him because he won't have any defense for it.

When he worked from the outside, he dominated, it was when he stepped back with his hands down, and when he admired his work. Hopefully he watchs this fight and realizes this, but of course his 10 pro fights is misleading when you talk about experience, as a lot of Cuban guys when they go pro like he did are what they are, they don't seem to have the same learning curve as people from elsewhere, because they are so engrained with their style for years and years in great training camps before they step foot in a real pro fight. It might be hard for him to adapt.

He's going to be exciting, and he is not going to be an easy night for anyone, but would I be surprisred right now if he got starched early by someone? Not at all.

I tell you one thing, I'm tuning in when he fights. There isn't many out there who can match the physical gifts he has, speed, pop, movement, cocky.

 

No Slouch...but he's not a world beater by any means. He's a solid C fighter and Gamboa past his step up...unfortunately it proved that they should not try and push this talent too fast...he needs some more professional "Grooming". He'll get there if his management team aren't too greedy and carless bringing him along. But all this Valero, PAC, JMM or even Linares talk should be silenced.

 

Exactly why Names like PAC, Valero, JMM or Linares should not be mentioned as future opponents...well not in the next 1 or 2 years at least.
