I looked this Edwards up on the site where they keep records, and he didn't fight all creampuffs either. The one loss was a 10-round decision to 18-0 Elio Rojas and in his last fight he beat Freddie Norwood, albeit by DQ. Seems pretty interesting, and i can't wait to find out how far this guy Gamboa is gonna go. Watching boxing all the time, i'm not easily impressed anymore, but Gamboa was the first fighter in a long time to really make my jaw drop when i saw him the first time against DeJesus. Still has a lot to learn in the pro game though.
I remember seeing Edwards get shutout by Elio Rojas last year on Shobox. He's pretty limited. Gamboa should stop him.
I'll be there too and I don't even care who he's fighting. I just want to see this guy fight in person and try to meet Teddy Atlas.
Edwards is ranked because of a bunk win over a shot Norwood. Norwood was leading on all the cards when the fight was stopped. Norwood being Norwood, he threw down Edwards a few times, then threw 3 or 4 low blows before the ref finally called it. I doubt he fights anyone who's a remote threat on the 8th if he plans on fighting a ranked contender two weeks later. I hope the televised fights run short. I wouldn't mind seeing Kasim Howard again, who's in the walkout bout.
haha! Gamboa only takes on the elite fighters, sean! Guiliami? Gamboa by tko before the fight takes place!
