True that. I have a lot of sympathy for him. He won't ever have those caree-defining fights against the best in his division because of the promoter he's with. He can't fight people within his promotional stable (Juanma, Mikey Garcia potentially, and others) anytime soon, and he can't pit himself against people outside of it, either (Broner, Russell Jr when he's reached that level). So what the heck is he left with? A fighter should never be robbed of opportunities like that; especially when he's the main guy of the division! Such a shame :verysad.

Yep, you got it. It could be his nationality, maybe if Gamboa was Mexican or Rican it would be very different but because he is Cuban there's not a big Cuban fan base in the US. Or maybe it's the fact that they know how good the kid is and don't want to feed their fighter to him, damm shame! Still, Yuriorkis is going to leave his mark BIG in boxing, just watch ... ;)

It's going to be a hard one for Lopez, stylistically, Salido WILL always cause him problems. Very good chin, Lopez has power, but doesn't seem to have the power to deter him...Salido will keep coming. Lopez should take some notes from Cotto's performance on Saturday, use plenty of movement and then plant your feet when needed against the pressure fighter...don't be forced in to exchanges.

Although Lopez has struggled with certain opposition that Gamboa has not, I still think it's somewhat of a toss up bout between the two...one that I'd like to see.

Oh I agree with you but not on Gamboa having any problems with Lopez. Gamboa has more speed, more natural athleticism, better ring IQ, better amateur experience and can whack with both hands. Lopez is too slow, predictable and easy to hit, Gamboa KO's him easy. ;)

My choice would be Broner, JuanMa or Jhonny Gonzalez. JuanMa looks unlikely since he'll be facing Salido around March.

The Super-Featherweight division is dead at the moment, so until someone follows Yuri up, he'll have to be content with taking Broner's "0".

I don't understand how people still want to see Gamboa-Juanma. Haven't you realized already that Juanma was all hype. In his last 7 fights (since Lontchi) he looked like a bum with nasty power, this is the only thing that has saved him for so long actually. Against really good boxers he will always fail. Even PDL would beat him easily, he just got caught hard and early the first time but I guess he learned the lesson. With a fighter with such good reflexes and power as Yuri's, I don't see Juanma going through round 3-4, honestly. And I don't see him catching Gamboa, even with luck, since faster and more accurate boxers than Juanma had an average connection of only 20% against Gamboa, wich is the best after Mayweather's 14%. Gamboa would humiliate Juanma and probably put his life in danger, seriously, Juanma is one of the boxers who takes more punches and Gamboa is machine gun, brain damange would be bad.

Lopez has to deal with Salido first, no easy feat.
