I agree 100%. I think Gam is a great talent...but He still has many holes defensively that a technical boxer like JML will expose. I've said this before and I'll say it again. Gam will not beat JML!
Absolutley 100% agree , ****in sick of people saying Juanma this and Juanma that and seeing Gamboa in his shadow its shocking !!!!! Juanma is a likeable fighter there is no doubt his style and lay it on the line mindset make him very watchable , but Gamboa is the next big thing and Arum is treating him like Juanma's little brother its ****in awful !!!!!! Gamboa W Lopez TKO 3 :deal
I did not literally mean unstoppable. I meant a nightmare for anyone, like Roy in his prime. The problem with Roy is that he never mastered the fundamentals (could you imagine roy with PBF defense or Bhops ring generalship)? I was impressed more with Gamboa's last fight, not because he knocked out the fighter Juanma struggled against, but because he tightened up his defense and showed patiences. In his earlier fights you wondered if he was going to get tagged and go down. In this fight watching him you knew it was going to be an earlier night for him. If he learns his craft and not depend solely on his reflexes ala RJJ. he will be the dominate force in the lighter weights for years to come . . . future lb4lb.
To me is amaizing how people forget when Gamboa was getting KD by B and C level fighters. I am not saying that he will KO Juanma or that Juanma is going to KO him but this is not as simple as that. Juanma needs to improve a little more in my eyes before going into this fight but this will definately be a competitive fight all the way around.
Gamboa is one of the most gifted boxers we've seen in many years. His style, technique, speed, power and passion for boxing. The combination of aggression and pride for boxing makes him a very special fighter to watch. He tempt his opponent to hit him and if that happen for any chance then "El Ciclon" wakes up and destroys anything in his way. That's Gamboa.
Gamboa gives Lopez his most NASTY KO EVER!!! But wait, there is another Cuban featherweight beast on the lose, RIGONDEAUX!!!
this is a classic boxer vs puncher scenario. the boxer being gamboa and the puncher being juanma. all though gamboa can hit hard as hell but you get what im saying. if gamboa stays disciplined and not get arrogant, then the fight can be a potential lop-sided beatdown. but if he tries to get cute juanma would take him out. so its a toss up for me IMO. im a big gamboa fan but i dont agree with the other fans saying gamboa would spark him out. if we wont get pacman/floyd, then this fight is a perfect substitute
What I dont understand is why people have been talking about Gamboa/Lopez for such a long time. Lopez just came up to 126lbs. Gamboa is more like a 130lbs making 126lbs very tight. He is a good fighter but, if he is so good, why not forget about Juanma and go for the top 126lbs like John???????
While he s very good fighter I dont understand what people are talking about when they talk about Gamboa "technique". GAMBOA PROS: 1. Great physical condition. 2. great discipline and dedication. 3. Great speed and strenght. GAMBOA'S CONS: 1. Disorganize attack. 2. Gets himself exposed to unnecessary punches too often 3. Gets too wide at times. 4. Less than average defense.
Juan Ma's best fight plan would be to box and counter punch and get in to the fifth or sixth round. In the second half of the fight it would be time to press. Gamboa is way fast but he has shown he can get caught. That being said I would probably pick Gamboa.
