The Gamboa v JML was built up then got blown out of the water. The Brandon Rios fight was unusual in that Gamboa would be jumping 2 divisions whilst Rios is struggling at the weight. Broner would very interesting. Broner on points.
I think Broner would have a problem (no pun intended) with Gamboa's speed and athleticism. That's normally the tools to beat someone like Broner. But i'm not that impressed when Gamboa is in a safety type of mode. Plus when he's attacking he's too freelance with his offense and Broner would have a lot of physicality over him. I think he could turn Broner and take advantage of his foot placement because he has the tools to do so. I've always thought the style to give Broner trouble was someone who understands how to maul and crowd him though (which isn't Gamboa). That's when his style will become style over substance. You have to know exactly what you're doing to such detail with the way he fights and i'm not sure he's there yet. He's a Honda Acura. You get a lot for your money but it's no Lexus. That's Broner. He took that Lexus and put his name on it.
Awesome fight. I love seeing speedy technical guys because that is when you really find out who is the better technician and sometimes who is the better fighter. SRL vs Benitez SRL vs Hearns Mayweather vs Judah
I've not really been impressed by Broner tbh. Certain things he does just look too forced, but I've only watched a couple of his fights so I could be totally wrong there. I think right now he benefits from the lack of competition for him at 130lbs. I think Uchiyama would beat him handily, and would fancy Salgado too at this point. But maybe I'm being overly harsh on Broner.
It's easy to be harsh on Broner. He's trying too hard to be slick IMO. He is fun to watch, big and shows some nice flashes, but I don't buy him as the 'future P4Per' some are touting him as. Then again, it took the Montiel showing to reclaim the faith I had in Donaire when he smashed Darchinyan. Maybe Broner will creep up on me. 'The Problem' is an abysmal moniker by the way.
