you'd have to factor in that he was trying to impress the crowd. he was the main attraction in that card and i felt that he wanted to make the people happy. i think it was a good workout for him.
First off let me start off by saying I'm a fan of both fighters. In Gamboa I see P4P potential if he is able to harness and hone his talent. In Concepcion I see the man whose likely going to be the face of Filipino boxing once Pac retires and also has P4P potential. With that said if the two were to fight tomorrow I'd have to side with Concepcion whose counter straight right would put Gamboa to sleep. In a year or two I might be singing a different tune though.
gamboa has a tremendous upside. he has the skill and the wit but then he should really try to protect his chin. b-hop said it perfectly when he was interviewed. bhop has a great chin and even he does not have the audacity to drop his hands like gamboa does. gamboa should stop believing the hype built around him and start busting his ass off in training. gamboa could be a great fighter. he just needs to defend better
True indeed. Gamboa has memorizing speed and an offensive attack that makes for must see t.v. He however compromises himself by keeping his hands low and standing in front of his opponents far too often. He likes to bate guys into throwing punches only to slip and counter with big combinations. The way he currently executes that strategy would fail against better opposition with power and so I'd favor Concepcion over him because of it.
This kid is 20 and has 27 fights!! albeit against shite fighters. Gamboa is too much at this stage. Concepcion needs some more time before he is ready for that kind of a fight. Same goes for another Filo prospect Farenas which i believe has what it takes to excite and put bums on seats one day there not borin 2 watch.
