Guzman would be difficult for him even when he hits his absolute peak between skill and ability, when he irons every problem out, Guzman's still crazy difficult for anyone. Right now he would be competitive, but he wouldn't win. When he gets to his best, he'll win a competitive one IMO. Guzman's skilled as hell, made out of iron, very quick, defensively savvy and good tactically, I favour him heavily over Pac and JMM. Gamboa's got to make some improvements before taking on a Guzman. He has more chance against Pac or JMM, because they have defensive leaks and can be hurt. Guzman's very strong also, stronger than Soto, pac or JMM.
I disagree with Gamboa beating JMM. I think out of all the fighters. This would be the worst for Gamboa. JMM is a hell of a counter puncher and Gamboas low hands would get him punished.
Right now, I can't see Gamboa having more than a 5% chance to win unless he completely fixes every single flaw after one fight (very unlikely). But in 1.5 years, I have no idea. This would be unreal. I would rather see this fight than almost any matchup in history. It's such an even match and a perfect matchup of styles/personalities.. ****, it would be a tragedy if this fight doesn't happen.
In all seriousness Guzman takes this fight if it were tomorrow. In a year or more I might favor Gamboa. I would pay hundreds to see this fight in '09......
Guzman is just as potent a counter puncher, less power for sure by a margin, but quicker and puts the shots together faster. He's also got a cast iron chin, JMM doesn't and Guzman's body has been through a lot less than JMM's. If the bouts were to happen respectively this time next year, after Gamboa's corrected some of the glaring issue's.
Two fastest fighters facing off at 130.... Guzman will also be very quick until he's in his mid-30's, his body has been through very little abuse, he's not been in a throw down type war either.
Hopefully. He also trains like crazy and if what Brooklyn said turns out to be true (his stamina increases at 135), he might even go up another level. The thing is, it's not an unbelievable matchup only because of their styles/speed/talent. It's also because of their cockiness and warrior mentalities, both of them would be out to prove that they're the greater warrior AND the greater boxer. It would be the greatest ring battle imaginable. :scaredas:
:| ... But yes, with great stamina, Guzman's winning every round vs. most fighters. Soto scored 3 rounds on a tired, inactive Guzman. Well, to fans of Supernatural's, it is one of the best ever. Fans of the sweet science. Fans of the Gatti/Vasquez wars, don't like either of these guys.
If Gamboa gets the right amount of schooling, I think he will brutalize Guzman - but alot can go wrong till that day.
