Another "potential" fight. I'll be delighted if its made but I'm not convinced John will agree to this match up.

A lot of intangibles here...very intriguing bout that i would love to see. I think John would cause Gamboa a lot of frustration. This fight would tell us so much about Gamboa.

I've not seen Gamboa fight for a year or so. How is he progressing?

Still as fast as the duracell bunny on speed, still boxes orthodox for 1 round then drops the hands and punches from silly angles and still gets caught unbalanced=flash knockdowns. oh yea still an entertainin lil ****... I like him!

Yea its all about timing and it might be right for John/too soon for Yuri but you never know it could be the breakthrough fight where Gamboa puts it all together and gets a massive win.

With some guys like Naz/Calzaghe you gotta praise the trainer for letting them fight in their unorthodox way as trying to change them would hamper their success. I just think with Gamboa as exciting a fighter as he undoubtly is with his style there's increased risk obviously, rein him in a bit keep his speed and he could be a massive force in world boxing. I actually think its a disadvantage in his case letting him do it his way

cant wait, if John is sensible and boxes well i can see him frustrating Gamboa and winning on points

Whats happening with John these days? Wasn't there rumours of retirement because his wife didnt want him to fight anymore?

haha how funny wud that be. Coincidentally if that were the case and he retired, would anybody else see him as similar to Calzaghe? Both would finish undefeated and been champions in long reigns but face some criticism for only fighting abroad (the US) late on in their careers. Plus both of their most impressive wins would be considered controversial :think
