obviously its not easy to see on the small screen.

khan was watching his corner tell him to stay down and take the eight count.

he jumped up, was watching them saying stay down, took a knee , got up .

obviously a bit of shock/naivity/inexperience of being decked.

simply a novice caught in the headlights.

not heard of the go down twice during the same knockdown that it is an automatic stoppage.

I love how all people bring the Limond fight up simply to point at Khan's chin, but VERY RARELY do they ever point out the grit he showed in getting up from the canvas, coming back and beating the **** out of Limond. Why on earth do we just take it for granted that a boxer can do this? Look at how Judah just goes into a shell when getting pressured and hurt like that. Look at how talented Harrison seemed before being exposed as an utter coward.

Khan showed a lot of heart in that fight, and it was utterly overlooked. A large part of boxing is mental, and it's the mental aspect that is so rarely addressed, despite the fact that it's incredibly important.

Listen....people detract from Khans ability.....using the fact that he is a Frank Warren fighter, and he is over protected....I agree in some ways.

But Khan has show far better variation in his work to date.

He uses the whole ring better and is more controlled.

it belittles his age of 20...amazing.

Gamboa is a macho cuban, very physically strong but Khans cuts him to peices hes a super feather ( a small one) vs a large lightweight.

I remember Khan fighting Mario Kindelan ( a far better fighter than gamboa), and holding his own. Also watching Khan destroy Victor Ortiz....give this Kid some Hype....he is deserving of it.

He is a stupendous talent and a good guy

on behalf of most brit posters. we dont overated him or anything but there is so much hype in the U.K about him. he is a presentor and businessman at the age of 20 years old mean there is more than just good skills.

frank warren has found an absolute gem.

    • a classy boxer-puncher who is flashy and a powerpuncher also has skills to pay.
    • young olympic silver medalist beating most of the upper crust of prospects today including victor ortiz
    • not too outspoken and not too arrogant.
    • he is a muslim but is pretty liberal and tolorant (like most young brit muslims)
    • from the north fights in the south (fan base in whole country a problem for a young hatton)
    • always on TV and fighting on itv or satanta at least every 3 or 2 months.
    • and most importantly a big football fan. which brings in extra set of non boxing fans
he is a perfect idol. a similar case with de la hoya. at what point do you seperate the skills and the politcs/celebrity status. also his dodging...or should i say avoidance of big punchers has been a problem aswell.

i think khans has built in to his skills and has a great array of punches and skills.

his chin doesnt look great nor does his stamina as he has had problems with goign the distance. past 6 rounds he has been known to slow down dramaticly and look for the one punch...which is a very bad ama to pro manouvre.

he will do nicley but it's best not to belive the hype from UK tv.

gamboa to me is a great natural talent but uses his talent of doging and countering a very dangerous style for a fighter with less than 20 fights who is almost in the top 10.

great uppercut and simlar to james toney. just a bit squatter and use of footwork.

in a 10 rounder i would give khan the biggere slice. he has shown grit over adversity and has confidence in his skills which is also a very complete set of skills. gamboa is also talented and has a good skill set. but his small stature and counterpunching style wouldnt be in ihs best intrests against an outboxer.

Interesting post. I agree, he does appear very marketable. Anybody that brings exposure to the sport of boxing is a good thing IMO.

Khan is lightening fast with his combinations, but I guess you could make an arguement either way, IMO the difference is only slight in favour of Khan. However, i don't understand how you dispute Gamboa being stronger, particularly from the inside????

Gamboa's strength is crazy strong for his size, did you see how he man-handled the slightly larger Jimenez, even tossing him down like he was a child?

I've rarely seen strength like that at 5'5 for the SFW division, he's easily the most physically strong there, which is why even now I think he kills all of the 126 fighters, whom all lack the punch to gain his respect. He'd outmuscle Linares for example like Linares was a little girl.

yes cause we all know feather-fisted Jimenez is a great example to use, who was also fighting a superfeatherweight entering the ring as a jr.welter

Jimenez a feather fist? Damn, his KTFO of Anchondo sure signified that he has the same power as that of a Willie Limond.:nut

Friend, he sparked Anchondo cleaner than Barrios did, Barrios is also a proven power puncher. He's also on a 6 win KO streak for his wins, there is no way the guy can be considered a feather fist when he's knocked a name fighter out cold, chinny or not. Feather fists don't put away anybody.

But the reality is that everyone who picked chinny Khan are very off here. Khan vs Huerta?

When Huerta slams one of those good straight lefts on Khan's chin, we'll see how he reacts. Jimenez on the other hand is Huerta level, Gamboa just brutalised him.:yep
