    He's better.

It's insane and ridiculous. Why did you have to start this madness? :-(

This thread should be treated the same way the Zelenoff vs Hearns thread was. Except Zelenoff would actually have a chance with his Roy Jones left hook on Hearns' shaky chin.

maybe gamboa will learn the hard way that keeping your hands up is always important.

A prospect with 10 fights is better than Naseem Hamed? Give me a break. Hamed blew his C/B level opposition away in the early stages of his career too, and his power alone is one department Gamboa can only dream of approaching. He wasn't even knocked down until his 23rd fight with Alicea (a guy who had, at the time, a record of 15 wins, 13 via KO, and 0 losses) and that was a flash KD where he got up before even 3 or 4 seconds had been counted, so you can't even make a case for the chin yet. Gamboa is nowhere near proven enough to pull that bull out of nowhere.

I rate Hamed higher than the average boxing fan who thinks he wasn't even an elite fighter because of the Barrera loss. But Gamboa has a lot more potential than Hamed and after seeing him prove more about himself against Jimenez, I feel very confident saying that Gamboa is better than Hamed (or will be very soon).

There are prospects with 10 fights and there are prospects with 10 fights, along with an amazing amateur career and unreal abilities/skills.

Good post. Some forget so easily just how promising these guys like Hamed and SSM etc looked early in their respective careers. Gamboa will have done extremely well if he can ever be the fighter a prime Nas was. To say he is better now is crazy.

You guys are under rating Khan big time IMO. I don't think its madness at all, if i did i never would have created the thread. An intriguing match up, one that looking at it closely would be extremely competitive.

    great post MSTR

Im finding the match up intriguing but like alot of posters here, I see more variable attributes in Gamboa than Khan.

To me it's more likely Gamboa counteracts the control of Khan by constantly changing things up, using his greater physical strength and not always conventionally boxing Khan.

If it goes to the score cards it's a 50/50 fight, but IMO Gamboa learns from the Jimenez performance being more patient with his shots thus improving his timing, scrap abit more inside and on the ropes and all this time conserving more energy before waring down Khan for a latter round stoppage.

Not a blow out however by any stretch!!!!!!!

Lets be fair about Hamed, in terms of natural ability I dont think there has ever been a more "talented" guy in the lower weight class'.

But the better disciplined (training), and guy who stuck to the basic boxing fundementals have managed to sustain their territory on the feathers.

    Barrera, Marquez etc

Hamed held each version of the championship during his reign.

I also have no doubt hamed would have won a Bantamweight , Super Bantam to go with his featherweight if he had a top line promoter at the time.

People forget NAz started at Flyweight in the pro ranks.

Frank Warren rushed him to Feather because "his" champ Steve Robinson held the WBO gong.

Gamboa has more natural ability than Hamed ever had. Not in the power category, but in pretty much everything else he is superior.

No, if Gamboa wants to fight evasively like Hamed did, then he could and he would do it better. His sense of distance and overall reflexes are better than Hamed's. Hamed was very hittable at every point of his career. A lot of fighters didn't take the necesarry risks to take advantage of his leaky defense though because they were either not skilled enough, afraid of his insane power, or both.

Can he jump tall buildings with a single bound as well:yep

Look mate, I agree there aren't many limitations to Gamboa's potential but that comment makes you sound way to love struck with this guy to argue impartially.
