Golden Boy promotions has been working with Linares after he beat Larios they had a part in his fight against Diaz so hel be working with Golden Boy in the future.
Linares has been a pro for almost six years and Gamboa hasnt been a pro for two years.compare Linares record to Gamboa at the same stage oftheyre careers and Gamboas much better record. Linares was still fighting guys with losing records in his third year as a pro.
Gamboa is 26 Linares is 22 or 23. Larios is better than anyone Gamboa has fought and Diaz was a good opponet.
Gamboa hasnt been a pro for 2 years what are you expecting ,did you want him to fight JMM. Linares has been a pro for six years and his best oponent is a shot Larios thats very poor.
lol, gamboa came with a big hype like he's the second coming of RJJ and that he will beat marquez and pac by the end of 2008. lol, there was one who said he'd pick gamboa over pac in a six round fight and it's because gamboa isn't tested yet at 12 rounds or else he'd pick gamboa over pac in a 12 round fight. those comments were coming from respectable and knowledgeable posters. i can't believe how badly they messed up with that hype. gamboa is hittable. one only has to have good timing and not be rattled by gamboa's swarming hands-down offense and he can surely hit gamboa. have a good head movement and gamboa would easily miss with his whirlwind offense that doesn't land most of the time. have a good power, not even elite power like we've seen from morales and pac, just a decent journeyman power and you would drop gamboa with a flush hit in the face, his chin is very questionable at this point. linares has more than what it takes to beat gamboa. one power punch timed by linares and gamboa will go poof. gamboa stands up quick to show he isn't hurt but he would soon hold and grab to avoid linares' onslaught. but linares isn't a midwestern club fighter. he'll finish gamboa as soon as he gets a KD. if gamboa survives the round, he'll get another beating in the next until that glass jaw of him is fully exposed for what it is.
people say that Gamboa is overhyped ok he might be,but these are the same people that compare Linares to Arguello and SRR. Linares is one of the most overrated fighters in boxing at this time.
i don't think linares is overrated. i'm not saying he's elite yet. linares is a world class fighter and a champion. gamboa is on his way to become a champion. but i compare him to amir khan. offensively gifted but defensively flawed because of his amateur upbringing. moreover, he has a shaky chin. he's fighting journeymen who has been layed-off for a year or so and they knck him down. how would he fare against active champions or even against an inactive champ like linares? linares isn't as fast or slick as gamboa but he is more fundamentally sound than him. i even think he's more powerful
who knows how would he do against Linares,he probably wouldnt fight as agressive as hes been fighting.i just cant see why some people pick Linares by easy ko when hes an untested fighter like Gamboa.
I would say Gamboa has more power, but you are right, he is more fundamentally sound, and is more careful in unloading his offense.
i'm predicting this fight based on what i'm seeing from gamboa's fights. but really, gamboa would have to adapt a completely new style to fight linares. his style right now would be a KD-fest for gamboa. but its hard to change a style overnight unless you're as great as barrera. one more thing, you can't do anything about a chin if it is made of glass, it'll stay that way no matter what style you use.
That's a funny way of looking at it. What about he fought a journey man who was 25-0, with extremely nice speed (he showed it for the time he lasted), big power (had 8 KO1), and never been KD in all his 25 fights. It's funny how people can laugh at Ramirez like he was nothing. Ramirez just made a bad decision by fighting Gamboa, I think he could have become someone if Gamboa never was on his way. Unfortunately, he had to go trough Gamboa, get his ass demolished in 2 rounds, and now every Gamboa hater will be able to say that Gamboa only fought a Khansas City Fireman Club Fighter. I'm pretty sure Ramirez would've been a very nice fight for any of the current champs (actually, Ramirez is 10x better than any of the contenders the champs have been taking lately!!). Oh and another thing, I don't see any of the current champs getting rid of Ramirez in 2 like we saw this past weekend.
