Humble? Who gives a **** if he's humble? He grew up poor as **** with his mother being a heroin addict. Now he's rich and famous and achieved that all by himself with his hard work. He is a loudmouth, and may seem unpleasant but do you know him personally? People here always **** on him and try to dismiss his accomplishments, and that makes no sense to me. Its all just blind hate. Not hatred of his abilities or not liking him as a fighter- just personal hatred- like he did something evil to some people here.

I think Gamboa is a great fighter but he has no chance of beating floyd at 130. I think he doesn't have a good enough defense, he is not as fast as Floyd and wont be able to really get through Floyd's defense. I think he would lose.

BS. It was a close fight. Floyd won a bunch of rounds decisively and then Castillo stole a couple with his ugly dirty tactics. I thought Floyd won that fight by one point.

I think Blacky is messing with you. Yeah that fight was close but Floyd edged him.

Boxing fans and people in general are like the waves they come and go. I bet ya that if Gamboa stopps Rios at 135 that this poll will shift in a second in favor of the cuban that's the way fans are

Gamboa is the next best thing to have landed its feet in boxing and ib US Soil, as we all know the Mecca of pro box, but hold your horses. Gamboa is in his SSM state as yet, impreessively fast and powerful, unbelievable accuracy, pop in his punches and amazingly gifted in physical-fitness terms and coordination. But so was Berto until Ortiz pressed him up, so was JuanMa until the upset took place, Cotto was on a high-high when Margo came along, so please take it easy. Gamboa is the heir to the throne by far in my personal opinion, not Rigondeau, not Donaire, not surely Rios...

Good post, but there's one thing that Gamboa posesses above Cotto, Berto and JuanMa and that is: he comes from the best boxing school in the World, Cuba.

Gamboa is one of the most decorated amateurs of all times, far above those fighters you mentioned. Only Countryman Rigondeaux was better in the amateurs ( but not by much either ).

I know that amateur success doesn't necessarily translate into pro success but the Cubans are of a different breed. They are actually pro/am fighters who fight 4 rounders instead of 12. The Cuban training regimen is legendary, and this is why when they turn pro they are way ahead of everyone else.

Cuban boxing fans are definitely the most blinkered of all fans. It's so embarrassing.

Using his jab and pure-boxing skills, Gamboa puts on the masterclass of the decade over the crude Mayweather.

That's because we know what our fighters are capable of doing. Being confident is not blinkered, whatever that means. ;)

Hmmm... Mayweather vs Gamboa at 130 That would be a good technical fight right there. At 130 Mayweather was so fast and sharp it was insane. I was blessed with the oppertunity to see Lil' Floyd fight his 10th fight against Louie Leija live. It was amazing watching Floyd disect Leija with fast accurate shots knocking Louie out the ring in the 2nd round finishing him off.

I've never had the oppertunity to witness El Ciclon de Guantanamo fight live, but I'm sure his speed is blinding. Gamboa has very good quick feet, and very good technique. But when it come to throwing punches I think Mayweather has the sraighter, crisper shots. Where Gamboa edges Floyd is in the power department. But I'm just comparing a 126 Gamboa because he's yet to show what he gots at 130.

When it comes to defence, Floyd is clearly the better of the two. I have witnessed Gamboa get a little wild with his punches at times, as for Floyd, it's rare the times that he's not in control. But now that Gamboa is with Steward things might change for the better.

How many time has Gamboa been down compared to Floyd? A lot more, not trying to say Gamboa has a weak chin, I'm just saying that because of his over aggressiveness Gamboa got caught and lost balance. Floyd hardly ever make mistake where he gets overly aggressive.

I don't want to bring in their Amature accomplishments into it because all that was, was preparation for the pro's. Gamboa, I believe had a way better Amature background, but let's not take away the fact that Floyd comes from a big boxing family, he was born into a boxing culture. Uncle Rodger was a great champ. So both Mayweather and Gamboa have boxing encoded in their mind, body, and spirit.

I seen Mayweather fight at 130 and have been very impressed. I'm yet to see what Gamboa brings to the weight class, but I expect a good showing. As of now I'm sticking with Floyd, In a very technical fight where it comes down to who has the better defence.

Just my unbiased opinion, I do tend do give Floyd a lot of crap, but when it come down to skill. I give credit where it's due. There is really no right or wrong answer in these type of questions just a bunch of opinions. Mine is no better than the others, well except for the obvious biased ones.

    Side note:
Floyd earned his first Belt by fighting Genaro "El Chicanito" Hernandez ( Rest in Peace ) in his 18th pro fight. I don't know if you are familiar with Genaro. Hernandez was a great champ definatly in a class above Barros and Solis, don't know if I would say better than Salido even though his record was better.
