gamboa is more visibly talented than Lopez. I was impressed that lopez put de leon away early but other than that i wasn't much impressed otherwise. I would favor gamboa over lopez but he should keep his hands up.

Gamboa is considerably faster than most fighters, yeah. Lopez isn't exactly Carlos Baldomir, though. I saw both live the other night from about fifteen rows back. Neither hand nor foot speed is the be-all/end-all. Mtagwa is an inconsistent fighter, that's the point people seem to be missing. Had the other night's Tanzanian shown up in the Dib fight, Billy could well have been KTFO.

You can bet your ass Mtagwa (especially given how peeved he is about this last decision) will get up for the Gamboa fight. He'll eat all he needs to eat to put a body on Gamboa. We know Gamboa is faster than Lopez - however we don't know how he will respond when his considerable physical advantages fall short against Mtagwa's, as did the slower but stronger Lopez's (even if they are different advantages).

Again, you're caught up on speed like it's the only consideration. It isn't.

gamboa would have probelms with mtagwa cuz he fight sloppy and is off balance at times....he wont slug it out like lopez did cuz his chin is suspect...he will win by ud

Gamboa could very well freak out and slug with the guy in a desperate attempt to get him out of there (spurred on by seeing his head bounce around from all his fast combination punching), like Lopez did.

I get what you are saying, we dont know about Gamboa's ability to deal with punishment a real threat and pressure, I want to see this fight too.

But what i am suggeting is that Gamboa will not fight as Lopez did, i am not suggeting that he can KO that man, but he should easily outbox him.

Of course he should easily outbox him, but 12 rounds is a long ass time to hang with a motivated, undiscourageable maniac. :good

It is a very important consideration. Not only is Mtagwa much slower than Gamboa, but he's technically and fundamentally much more flawed. That's a bad combination.

    Could happen.
In his amateur days (although we are past that) Gamboa was a great mover (lateral and backwards) though. But since he turned pro he (basically) never had to fight backwards. I wonder if he could and would still do it when necessary..
