Y doesnt gamboa or jmlopez fight cristobal cruz or elio rojas i cant see it beeing to difficult to get either of those fights and win, then it could be a proper unification bout when or if they do finally get it

I heard a while ago that Gamboa might vacate the WBA title and fight Cruz for the IBF so he won't have to deal with the mandatorys and can fight JuanMa.

But it doesn't look like that's happening.

Great idea. Have them set up almost tournament style with both fights on one card then the winners advance for a mega-fight.

i don't think Gamboa and Lopez going to fight for another 2 years atleast, there going to wait to build the hype by both fighters building their resume and reputation!!

If Bob Arum wanted either guy going anywhere near Cristobal Cruz, it would have happened by now or at least put on the table, considering that Cruz's promoter is Top Rank. Cruz in his current form is a tough style matchup for anyone. Beatable, sure, but too unpredictable to put in with a top guy.

That said, if they do make it, Gamboa-Cruz would be a FOTY contender.

Gamboa is the most talented fighter in the pro game today
BUT he is too cocky, he will get KOED once he meets a solid offensive counter puncher with good defense

    Gamboa is alot of hype:bart

as bob arum put it after gamboa and juanma co-headlined their last card, “I know what people want and they can go **** themselves"

Brother, if you ever hear Gamboa in an interview you will be amazed! He is super nice, humble and modest. All he says about his opponents are good things, like " he is a very good fighter but I don't think he can beat me ". Absolutely never have I heard Gamboa badmouth any fighter in particular even JML. The only time that he shows off a little is inside the ring, but why would'nt he? Like you said, he is the most gifted fighter today and he knows it, when he shows off in the ring is simply because he is " enjoying himself so much " that he just " loses control " in there. But Gamboa is a super nice guy! If you know Spanish go to youtube and hear his interviews, you will see why! :happy

PS, Gamboa will not lose to any solid counterpuncher or anything like that...He is a beast with over 300+ International amateur bouts! Olympic Champion, 3 times World amateur Champ and 4 times Cuban National Champ, want more??? :good

No other professional comes close to his amateur credentials ( except Rigondeaux ), speed, talent, punch, combos and stamina...

one of the things that makes gamboa so dangerous is that "cockiness" inside the ring w/o a doubt
