Gamboa vs Uchiyama at 130

This could be a war, but I think Gamboa will be too fast for Uchiyama, Gamboa by TKO.

Uchiyama is nothing spectacular, the only thing that this fight proved is that Solis is not as good as people thought he was, he has a weak chin and can't take a good punch. Still, Gamboa beat him more convincingly than Uchiyama. The Jap may be powerful but he is too slow for Gamboa ( isn't everyone? ).

Gamboa no doubt gives Uchiyama a boxing lesson but it could still be a fun fight to watch!

 

Maybe, maybe not. Teiken has sent their fighters overseas quite a bit lately. Not to fight Gamboa though I don't think. Gamboa would outbox him rather easily I think.

 

maybe but Broner is much more talented and will dominate this division for years to come. Uchiyama is older (by a lot).and Uchiyama doesnt exactly have the most big names on his resume either. not to mention he hasnt left japan. I think both broner and gamboa are leagues better than him and gamboa would box him silly.

 

Uchiyama is no joke. He's the top 130 pounder right now and he hits like a ton of bricks. Dangerous fight for Gamboa.

 

Even though boxrec is more than likely wrong but they got Gamboa fighting Rocky Juarez on March 3rd, if that's true than Gamboa deserves criticism for taking that fight against a guy on bad losing streak.

I saw him too slow and predictable with the right hand easy win for Gamboa.

 

I pick Uchiyama because he is at the same level as Gamboa, but more fundelmentally sound. Uchiyama jab will give Gamboa trouble and Gamboa speed will give Uchiyama trouble, but we will have to see if Gamboa can carry his speed at 130. I see Gamboa having success jumping in ala Roy Jone, but at the same time could be his down fall as Uchiyama seems to know how to counter with his left hook. Also, I think Gamboa is not avert to traveling to Japan for a big money fight, something that he has lost with JM Lopez, and he has been seen in Japan and fought in Germany. To be honest, I want Gamboa to fight Roman Martinez first and have Uchiyama fight Ao. That will be the buildup for the major 2012 boxing event in Japan.

Gamboa has already fought 1 fight at 131lbs, 2 at 130lbs, 3 at 132lbs and 1 at 136 3/4 lbs. So, Gamboa is very used to fighting at a higher weight. Uchiyama has nothing for Gamboa, he is very slow and easy to hit. Power never catches up with super speed and accuracy, something that Gamboa is A+

 

True that Gamboa has the clear athletic advantage, probably overall skill level too, but he has a bad habit of dropping his right hand and Uchiyama has a VERY NASTY counter left hook that knocked Solis senseless for 5 minutes.

Don't get me wrong I favor Gamboa in this, points if he plays it alert, maybe a stoppage if speed difference is too big. But it takes just one of these and he's out. Very dangerous fight for the Cuban.

 

Good analysis, but Solis wasn't really knocked out there his eyes were open but decided not to get up. I think he had enough once he touched his eye and saw so much blood coming out and decided to stay in the floor.

Gamboa would easily avoid that slow punch, he is constantly moving sideways and in and out, and even though he sometimes lowers his hands he does it at a safe distance. Uchiyama's only chance is a lucky punch but that's extremely difficult to land against a very fast and always moving target.
