I think Rigondeux would be better than gamboa. I haven't seen much of the other guy (barthelamy) , will he win a world title?

gamboa could clean out 126 if given the chance. i dont doubt he could do that considering how weak the division is.

Some of you guys are jumping the gun by far here, this kid is still very young and untested. Guzman is the best right now other than Pac and JMM and Guerrero is the best of the younger generation.

I have heard that he had over 400 amatuer fights. I thought it was more like 300, but people around here keep saying 400 :think . This is why he is "slightly older" than normal for turning pro, but its also the reason why he is fighting once a month and blowing guys out in a round or two. He is the best prospect I have seen in a while

I was going to say something about that but i thought he might have used it as a comparison of the odds of the fight happening, more than the fighters. Cause talent-wise Berto only wishes he was 1/10 as skilled as Gamboa

The only way the fight will happen is if Pacquiao gets destroyed at 135 and remains in the game for 2 more years, all the while Gamboa is cleaning house and picking up multiple belts. Because at this point in his career, Pacquiao's looking to cash in with big money and big prestige fights. Makes no sense to fight a top prospect without a big enough following or any belts he hasn't fought for.

Gamboa should probably set his sights on lesser belt holders by the end of the year. Then in 2009 go after a guy like Guzman or Valero since Gamboa's German promoters can set up a fight for either of them overseas. By the end of 2009-start of 2010, if he can make that happen, he'll have plenty of options. Maybe by then, if Pac or JMM are retired, then he can go after guys in his weight range like Juan Diaz, Jorge Linares, Robert Guerrero, or even Israel Vazquez/R. Marquez if either move up to 126-130. Hell, with his skills, you could even talk a 140-lbs. takeover in the future.

One guy who will not be available is Chris John. I'm convinced he'll live a Pong Wongkongjam-style existence in Indonesia for the rest of his career, defending the belt against guys you'll never hear of.

the kid hasn't impressed me yet he's making these guys look like crap but they aren't talented guys they are stiffs with good protected records

When he steps it up and is able to do the same then I'll give him some praise

As of right now he is fighting as if he thinks he is a miniature Roy jones Jr. which has spelled doom for everyone but Roy that has tried to emulate his style

Pac will retire before he faces Gamboa. I don't see Pac lasting more than 3-4 fights with that sort of pace which he fights at.

Gamboa vs Linares is THE fight IMO and I can't wait til they it happens.

I also don't think people understand that Gamboa isn't just SOME average prospect.

He's pretty grizzled as a fighter if you wanna think about it. Over 300 (rumored) fights in the AMs, Olympic experience and he's 26 years old. Not just that but he's doing what prospects rarely if ever do by blasting people out he's supposed to blast out.

I like Andre Berto a lot...but there are times where he's in there with a C- prospect and it's like he doesn't know to pull the trigger. Gamboa is just a dominator when he gets in there even against weak competition. He blazes through his guy like he should, no laboring or battling.

I've never seen someone ease through fights like he does...even FMJ made it look like a competition at times as a prospect.

EXACTLY my point also. He is blowing out the poorer competition as he should be, and in impressive manner. Why do people down his competition after 9 fights? It doesnt make sense....its like putting Pacquiao in the ring with the same competition and then bitching about him blowing the guys out early because they are not great fighters....it doesnt make sense. The point is that he is blowing out these guys like an elite level fighter would, and he isn't even in the double digits for fights yet. After the Rojas fight he will probably get more respect, cause this is the same Rojas that got a draw against John a few years back. Yes Rojas is past his prime but to face a guy like him in your 10th fight is pretty much unheard of.....unless your a freak. I'll be looking for the Gamboa ko before the third round :bbb
