Gamboa wins by 6th round KO

Amazing from Gamboa in 11 days he has beaten a former World title contender with a good looking record(okay Kedebe was destroyed by Harrison but still) and then beaten a man ranked #9 by the WBA(would be higher had he gotten the decision over Ramirez and would probably also be ranked by the IBF) and had fought a World title eliminator in his last fight .

Last month he also beat Paniagua who was in the WBC's top 40 at the time .

He's got good enough wins to be a voluntary for a World title(imo) and yet he still hasn't had a fight scheduled more than 6 rounds .

 

I'm not one to jump on a prospect very early (I know.. but Povetkin was a rare case ), but I have to say that right now, Gamboa's skills in the ring and his resume on paper are amazing. I get chills thinking about what he could be if he continues to impress as he steps up. Imagine a mini Roy Jones type of talent invading 130 next year// :yikes When was the last time in history that a guy did what Gamboa has done in his first 6 fights? He completely outclassed and blew out some journeymen and stopped a few solid low-class fighters that have never been stopped before in just 6 months.

Lets hope that he is as good as he seems to be. Also, he clowns around a lot while he showcases his amazing talents, so lets also hope that he doesn't become another Zab Judah.

 

Gamboa's addition to the 130 pound division makes it really really interesting.

He's the best damn thing to hit the boxing scene for a while, he's so exciting it's ridiculous, he's been killing dudes lately and i think we could be seeing the birth of the next Floyd only a more attacking version, i'm certainly a fan of this kid and i can't wait till he takes on the big boys of the division, i don't know how on earth Pac or JMM are gonna cope with this cat .. and i think he has the potential to also move up to 135 when he settles down which would also be fantastic for that division too, i see good times ahead for my boy Gamboa.

 

Caballero beat De Jesus in an eliminator to become the mandatory; I doubt he'll give up that spot so easily.

When he first signed the three Cubans, Oner said he wanted to get them title shots by the end of 2008. I believe I also read somewhere that he wanted to get Gamboa a title shot in 10 fights. The only thing that might prevent that is his high activity level.

While I'm not a fan of Oner as a human being, it's nice to see that there's at least a promoter out there who doesn't bull**** around and tests his fighters in a serious way....

 

Fully agree with u there mate. Not a fan of Oner, but he is pushing these cubans thru the ranks quickly & rightfully so.
